Degrees mean very little to me (and I did have a bachelors in Exercise and Sports Science). The certs carry some weight, but still don’t mean a whole lot.Does this guy actually have any formal education in this field?

More important is who were his mentors and what has he been exposed to. You learn 90% of what you know in that biz through experience (time as an asst) and a solid mentor.
I believe Jay Butler was his mentor. Maybe someone can find something on that.
One of the best S&C’s in the game is coming to the Gables.
Lol, he’s actually one of my all time favorite fighters.
Yep, one of the best to ever lace em up, plus he could take a punch, his style was funny, just walking round the ring going where he wanted to, fighting when he wanted to fight. I think he got the shoulder roll more down pat than floyd. One of the best defensive fighters that never gets mentioned as one, i might put em in 3rd behind floyd, pernell than him.
I love how most 'Canes fans sucked off Swasey for years as one of the best in the business then it comes out that he wasn't even certified to be in the weight room and now most of those same fans already know this guys sucks.
Exactly. Loved how he slip the counter immediately. You’re defensive list looks like mine. I got Pee-wee ahead of Floyd though.
The reason i always put floyd ahead of peewee is because roger dropped em, and the way his face looked against de lace ahoya, he couldnt get out of the way of his jab, so that eye got welped up!
All of the analytics and “new age” methodologies still haven’t managed to push out good ole fashioned Oly lifts. If someone has shown you the ropes on how to train the technique of the big 4 lifts, and how to develop a well thought out program off of that, then you are more than half way there.Yeah, sorry, I want a guy who has formal learning in this area.
Like Alpha said, we’re in a time of football where approaching the game and the process with analytics and actual intelligence is pushing out the old guard. The 3 yards and a cloud of dust, bring a lunch box stuff is dead. We need badasses but guys with high IQs and formal educations in their field.
I don’t need some idiot who’s learned what he knows through “street smarts” running around teaching our team the same bro science I can find at LA Fitness on any given night.
Seems like a crazy concept. Hire someone in this position thats actually studied it at a higher institution. Wow.
S&C coach is the most important hire a staff can make. They spend the most amount of time with the kids. This is a very underwhelming hire, what's the point of getting rid of Felder when you're just replacing him with a guy who's experience is just as bad

New information in the field is great, but you don’t wanna get caught up in the weeds with the overwhelming amount of research and experimental training that takes place, and lose focus of the basics.
What I will say is that it’d be nice to have a qualified speed and agility coach on staff (or hire someone off the track staff).
