2027 David "DJ" Jacobs 5* DE from Roswell, GA (Blessed Trinity Catholic) Commits to OSU

Both things can be true and they are. What HURRACANES is saying, is that we can't keep missing on the upper echelon of talent and expect to consistently, keyword being consistently, compete with teams that load up on that top level talent every single year.

Personally for me, I am not focused on just 5 stars. I want as many top 100 guys. The reality is, there isn't going to be some huge gap in talent from the 30th ranked player (5 star), to the 65th ranked player (4 star). So just stack top 100 talent, but the reality is we aren't doing that ANYWHERE near the most talented programs. Let me show you.

Composite top 100 players signed last 3 years.

2026
Alabama: 9 (4 5 stars)
Oregon: 9 (4 5 stars)
Georgia: 7 (1 5 star)
Ohio State: 6 (1 5 star)
Miami: 2 (1 5 star)

2025
Alabama: 8 (3 5 stars)
Georgia: 8 (5 5 stars)
Ohio State: 8 (3 5 stars)
Oregon: 7 (3 5 stars)
Miami: 1 (0 5 stars)

2024
Georgia: 10 (5 5 stars)
Alabama: 9 (5 5 stars)
Ohio State: 6 (4 5 stars)
Oregon: 6 (0 5 stars)
Miami: 7 (3 5 stars)

Total top 100:
Alabama: 26 (12 5 stars)
Georgia: 25 (11 5 stars)
Oregon: 22 (7 5 stars)
Ohio State: 20 (8 5 stars)
Miami: 10 (4 5 stars)

It's just a fact that the teams we will constantly have to defeat to get to the mountain top have far more talent, top to bottom than we do. Saying otherwise is just flat out being a homer. If the above remains the same, we will have to outdevelop and outcoach every team we face once we get to this stage in the post season, and that is a tall task to ask. Especially with Mario as the HC, which we all know his forte isn't Xs and Os.

So again to HURRACANES point, this staff absolutely needs to figure out how to land mor3 top 100 players. We are missing on way too many. Mind you, there are 6 other programs besides the ones I listed, which are just the best, who have signed more top 100 guys the last 3 years compared to us. That can't continue if you expect to compete for it all.
it's undeniable that the 2025 class lacked in top 100 type star power, though Toney's reclassification definitely screwed up his recruiting ranking. anyway, I think it's worth noting that there is a big split between how 247 rates our 2026 class vs the composite. by 247's rankings, we signed five top 100 players instead of two. further, 3 of the 5 (Parris, Stancil, and Dunnigan) were late in the cycle commits who saw their final rankings shoot up late in the process, mirroring Miami's evaluations of the players. Miami has made it known publicly that their board by the end of the year is being heavily influenced by senior film, and 247's rankings of those three players suggest that the site is mirroring that philosophy. we also know there are some direct connections between Miami and the 247 recruiting world, so it wouldn't surprise me if both Miami and 247 falling in love with Parris, Stancil, and Dunnigan is not exactly coincidental. I'm not alleging anything nefarious, but what I am saying is we'll see whether both Miami and 247 are ahead of the other recruiting sites in how much weight they're giving to senior film.

for context: in the 2024 class, 247 and the composite agreed on six players: Scott, Blount, Lightfoot, Trader, Patterson, and Carr. the composite had one other player in the top 100 that 247 didn't: Booker Pickett, Jr. we'll see how that plays out.

one aspect of our recruiting that is undeniable, though, is that the DL recruiting has fallen off since 2024. Scott, Blount, and Lightfoot were elite DL recruits regardless of where you look. this year, 247 likes Stancil more than the composite, but even that is only up to no 72 overall. the last two classes have not had the kinda stud SEC type DL recruits we were able to pull in 2024. we'll see after this playoff run whether we can change that with the 2027 class.

next year we should probably be okay with only minimal portal additions along the DL, but Scott and Lightfoot should each only have one season left, and we'll see about Blount. once they leave the recruiting rankings would tell us that there are no heir apparents to them on the roster from a freakiness perspective. I think next offseason we're having to open the bag in the portal for the Bear Alexander, LT Overton, David Bailey type transfers that we've thus far been able to avoid having to pay for because we already have the 5 star beasts on the roster.

I just get the feeling like if UGA gets its act together that he will end up there. They probably won't be the next team he commits to.

You disappeared for years… you still a big Luke and the committee supporter??? I was convinced you’re uncle Luke. Are you still using “!” and “and what not” redundantly?

Here’s a fun flashback. We can pick right up from where we left off…

Post in thread 'One photo representing UM's greatest moment each decade since 1980'
https://www.canesinsight.com/thread...nt-each-decade-since-1980.156803/post-4456775

And once again, I wish you, Coach Richt and all good Canes a Merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous new year.
LoL, until UM got serious wasn't nothing to talk about, and until coach Cristobal got serious wasn't nothing to talk about either, meaning when coach Cristobal hired his first staff coming in I knew than he plucked up, to bring in a so called big 10 o'clock and gattis, and a dc that gave up 60 or 70points, I just waited for the circus to end. The only thing I got from that and understood was that mario wasn't an insecure head coach and wanted what he thought was dogs around em. But I always knew Cristobal don't lik3 soft shart, so when he recruits, he looking for guys with a Cane mindset no matter where they might be, mentally tough guys, that's why when ohigho fake got within 3, I wasn't worried, cause when people say is UM back, those who kept asking that question last year, definitely don't & didn't know UM football. In comes corey heatherman, although he coming from the big 10, he doesn't run big 10 defenses, he smart enuff to run the old Hurricanes blue print defenses, with different looks on the back-end, plus his in game adjustments be on point. I like when people try to put coach Cristobal under the so called "nick saban coaching tree" when nick saban and the rest of several successful coaches said they followed the UM blueprint. Even in Bama's best teams, they played boring winning football. The point tho is, when UM is back to playing dominant defense, that's when you know we back. Shout out to cam ward and them boys, but no way we was back being offensive led. That's why it's been said down here for a long time. "Offense sell tickets, Defense wins championships"!
This is when I wanted to whoop coach golden's azzz, shout keionte scott, but the blue print been in the archives:

Those who remember, those 2 morons, coach folden & onofrio got mad at this play and started cutting his playing time short. Coach folden was just using UM as a training ground for his boy george onofrio, when coach folden should've been running the defense. Shout out to coach dawson for somewhat rising to thee occasion, he still hasn't learned how to set things up off of Malachi yet, but we playing with house money, but this team is HUNGRY, coach dawson cost us those 2 losses, and cost us several losses since he's been, at one point coach dawson should've been up for the broyles award as the best dc in the nation cause that mf'r was getting more 3 outs than a mf''r. Just refused to dial up a decent play to get a first down. He's on the national stage now, I can tell he doesn't want to go out sad on the national stage, I said he was either going to sink or swim, the defense kept his azzz afloat for the A&M game, ohigho fake, dawson finally chipped in at a higher level in key spots. The quest continues!

Somebody tell this whining *** pete guy to STFU! He keep basing good recruiting classes off of these nerd recruiting sites. This mf'r don't seem to care nothing about on field results, just wants to have the chance to stick his chest out, and be proud of some BS recruiting rankings before any of the players have even played one game. I got some advice for em, sit TF down, wait til games are played, and than rate the class. To be on a national platform, pouting as if Coach Cristobal is somehow failing is assinine!

Also, to those who keep saying Coach Cristobal is a good recruiter, stop being shallow, because most of you morons are only basing that off recruiting rankings by saying, NO, Coach Cristobal is damyum good evaluator of real talent, which is how he got the title of being a top notch recruiter. Anybody trying to give credence to these nerd recruiting sites, when they had brain rated as a locked in 4star, toney, a locked in 3star, anez cooper a 2 or 3 star, oj federique and the likes, if those recruiting sites are your guide, than you'll keep looking foolish.
And stop pretending like a lot of these recruits don't see the depth chart, we already got lions on the roster and some more coming in. The free lunch program is basically over at UM, jacobs knows and see's hayden lowe, scroggins, charles, blount and them boys here, not gone be easy, it's back to being official now, he/they can either play with us, or get drubbed up by us. Whether we win or lose, all teams know since 23, how physical this team has become, go see post game comments after Fsu best us in 23.
Also, to all the morons who kept byyttcchin and complaining about that Georgia tech lost for years, as if winning that game was somehow a big game, I know I couldn't be the only one who understood what Coach Cristobal was doing that game, I had know problem with the play call, phuuck taking a knee. Coach Cristobal was setting the tone for the future on how we need to win, we all know it wasn't a fumble, I don't even blame chaney, I luv kinchens, but the defense lost that game.
I knew Coach Cristobal was the right guy after he made a particular statement after one of our losses and he said "this ain't it", he didn't want to disrespect the players on the team who wasn't True Miami caliber players, by saying we got a lot of sorry mf'r's on the team, he just started sending players packing, and now we here. One of the last moves that can be made to put us over the top is a better oc, I'm glad this game is on the national stage, cause coach Dawson's often bullshat and lazy wide receiver screen play-calling *** is either gone rise to thee occasion or keep getting exposed. That mf'r luv's to start hyping up the other teams defense and how nobody has done certain things all year against them. If this team had rhett lashlee as oc, we'd be way better off, Dawson's scary *** gone have to step it up.
He calls the dumbest plays after turnovers/sudden change, his play-calling after those situations have been **** poor since he's been here. I didn't care to much for Coach richt's, but one things for certain, after a turn-over, that's when he did his best play-calling. Coach dawson don't know how to use the middle of the field. Especially with the tight-ends, Texas a&m defense is solid, damyum near they whole defense pointing at toney, and dumb azzz dawson still trying to force feed this man the ball. I'm gone see, if Coach dawson was smart, come this game he'd have pringle in the game in the backfield with fletcher, keep lofton on the line, and jojo trader needs to be out their as well. That package will force the defense to not be able to key in on jiggalo toney the one an only. If dawson run's his shart from that package and show we got more than toney, that'll open the rest of that offense up, jojo gets the most separation outta all the receivers including toney. If they got to account for fletch, pringle, jojo and toney at the same time, ohighon fake's defense gone get picked apart.
It's funny how dawson said he doesn't have any "him" plays but consistently keeps running shaat towards toney. The main reason the offense was statstically #1 last year cause ward audible out of alot of those dumb azzzz and lazy plays coach dawson called. In the meantime, Becky primarily will keep running the play no matter how ridiculous 98% of the time. He shouldn't of had to go to coach dawson on the sidelines and tell them we need to run the ball, mf'r check that **** to a run. If you listening beck, don't go out sad just running what dawson calls, when you see what you see, and know what you know what you know, change the play, dawson mentally is not ready for this level, I can see how nervous he's been since before a&m and even more so now. The players gone have to take over this game on offense, wide receiver screens my azzzz, and one more time, pete, STFU, yo bytcchhin is not a good look, man up!

I only read the first paragraph (so far) but I agree.. I completely disagree with this narrative that we’re not recruiting good enough. Nobody is looking at this team and says 10-15 other schools have better talent it’s crazy to keep saying that publicly.

Exactly man, pete be trippin and pouting like a baby, while in the meantime we in the playoffs. At the same curt cignetti over their sitting in Indian, I wonder his recruiting class rankings have been as well as what were they before he got, again, peety, STFU about recruiting, unless those sites are paying you to keep bringing up nonsense, it still would make sense to look silly for cents. And yet they suppose to be UM fans. Also, D if you listening, again stop hyping up the sec, and falling for that bullsquash, the acc has always been tougher than the networks/media want people to believe to drive up revenue for viewerships. No team in America is more watched than UM when we are winning, cause it has always been thee ULTIMATE form of football. One of the Greatest compliments I heard about UM was from Bobby Bowden when he said "Miami plays defense like they invented the dog on thing". Well, we getting back close to that as long as coach heatherman or a like mind is here.
Coach shannon would fit in perfect as the d-co under the helm of coach Cristobal withe type of talent being brought in. If we can get a d-co that just locks in here for 5 years, the rest will take care of itself. We are getting more and more atheletic on defense again, but more importantly, mentally, our players coming in, under the leadership of coach Cristobal, are going to consistently be more mentally tough, no matter their nerd rankings, see anez cooper and Malachi toney, so called 3 star players. All coop has done is start starting since he was a freshman. Its also comical hearing people say Malachi is haven't good games in the playoffs, when the reality is simple, when opposing d-co's have to shift their defensive games towards him, that's the Ultimate, the difference right now is, coach dawson hasn't run plays at the right time for toney like he did against Fsu & notre shame!

Saw him in the Poly Bowl, he was probably the most impressive player along with the Michigan OL. I believe the Ohio State beat writer said with Hartline gone, they plan to use more NIL funding on the front 4 because they have been lacking there and those WRs needed a lot of money
