Dave Hyde 6 PM Update: Richt Leading, Butch Long Shot

I probably have more info than Hyde. It is all made up conjecture. When reporters have no info they just invent some.

When will we learn.....

AIN'T NO BODY GOT THE JUICE OUT HERE!

It's all Butch....

Wait....sources say that Mario is the coach that Miami is going after.

Wait....sources say that there's a surprise candidate.

Wait....sources say that Kelly will be Miami's new coach at season's end.

Wait....sources say that Miami says money is NO OPTION for the new coach and staff

Wait....sources say that Miami is willing to pay UP TO $4m for it's next coach

Wait....sources say that Butch has already been hired.

Wait....sources say that Butch is going to be hired, with Sarkisian as OC and HCIW.

Wait....omg, now sources clearly has Richt as the man.

Wait....in a stunning move, Jimmy Johnson just flew from Fox studios down to Stillwater, OK, kidnapped Mike Gundy, and flew him back to Miami

Wait...wait....wait....this is the most accurate up to the minute post, It's either Richt, Mullen, Schiano....Butch has NO CHANCE!

Huh?

And we continue to have 10 page threads on some bull ish.

Needed to be said. Thank you.

Richt will be the OC. He made that clear in his press conference that he is not going to make that mistake again (letting his future be decided by someone else calling the plays). He has made it pretty clear he is not taking a job where he cannot be in charge of coaching the QB's and the calling the plays.

Jimbo like situation as HC for Miami, UVA or MD, not OC or QB coach.

Obviously I am saying he would be the HC. My point was other people are mentioning him bringing Schott with him as the OC or keeping Coley. He is not going to do that. He will be the HC and OC. He said he wants to get back to calling plays and coaching his QB's.

Mullen would do well here imo.

We dont have the qb for his offense so he would have to tinker with it..he would actually have to lean on Yearby,Gus Bus, Walton more so....which i would like either way for the dive play.....

Now's not the time to be "tinkering" with Kaaya's development, Mullen would stunt His growth with that gimmick offense...the same way D'Onofrio stunted Chick's growth with that garbage defense.

Aint no such thing as "obviously" on this board dude after all the nonsense I've read today but anyway I agree with you. I do believe he may hire somebody to fill the position in a non play calling role that would also be the running back or receiver coach.

Don't Mullen have a large buyout? Even if they are willing to pay coach more I don't see them paying Golden's buyout, Mullen ' s buyout and then a new coach

Yep and that's one reason why he's 2-3 on list

Hey drewm3i: Go root for Rutgers *******. That arrogant protoGolden has no business in Coral Gables. Turned us down to stay in Rutgers, made a mockery of himself in Tampa, and never really did much of anything to earn his megalomania.

Bingo.

Is a busy Tuesday in Coral Gables and, barring a surprise, here's how I'd handicap the the Miami football coaching search as of 6 p.m.:

1. Mark Richt, depending on if he wants the job.

2. Dan Mullen or Greg Schiano.

And that's it. That looks to be the wish list - again, barring a change of heart. That's a surprise considering how it looked a few weeks ago.

Butch Davis? He appears to be a long shot right now. Mario Cristobal? He wasn't contacted as of early Tuesday afternoon for an interview, a source said. That might be a timing thing with his Alabama team prepping for the SEC championship game against Florida. Then again, Miami has the foot to the accelerator and looks ready to make a decision quickly

Miami is putting money on the table as the job could pay up to $4 million. That's beyond what a lot of people (like me) thought. It also suggests there will be money to pay a staff, which is a primary concern of many

Richt brings a lot of components Miami likes - an alum, a local kid (Boca Raton High), a proven commodity at Georgia (no matter what Georgia thought in letting him go), a squeaky-clean image and, evidently, someone who still has a fire burning. The question is if he would want to take a year off after a 15-year run at Georgia or hop right back into the fire to coach his alma mater.

Mullen finished runner-up to Al Golden five years ago and has done well in what might be the toughest job in America. Mississippi State is in the SEC West, meaning he has to fight Alabama, LSU, Auburn, etc ...

Schiano? He's been out of coaching a few years, which is curious. But he has a background with UM and did well at Rutgers before failing at Tampa Bay in the NFL.

What happened with Butch? Let's understand there were issues with how he left Miami way-back-when and larger issues with what happened at North Carolina. One question in the UM interview: Why did he hire John Blake as an assistant knowing he had concerns in his background that played out in the UNC scandal? Maybe this all changes coming up, as this stuff can. But right now he looks out of the picture.

Woah.

I'm extremely happy with Richt or Mullen, would be devastate with a Schiano hire. Wonder how Butch has fallen so quickly.

Hyde5: UM update - Richt rising, Butch falling - Sun Sentinel

Butch never fell. He was never up there. There was alot of pressure from Big boosters and fans to BBB but he was never Miami's main focus. I think Schiano would be a good hire but its very risky. He gets the AG 2.0 tag but couldnt be more different other than Northeast ties. His 2 mentors Butch and Bellicheck.....not bad.

How is Monkey Boy a Belichick disciple? I don't think he has any association with him. He's a Joe Ped disciple who also worked under Wannstache.
