Darrell Jackson

This is why you take 1 year guys from the portal. They don't hold you hostage at the end of the year. Come in, get their agreed on $, and leave.

Jackson left where he got consistent payments on a monthly basis and went there and got it cut off because he wasn't eligible and he bought into what they were saying and what they bribed him to do... saying his mother was sick. She was in on it too and agreed to try it.

He collected a little up front to make the move then it got cut off because his agreement says they can.

he likely got an NIL deal at FSU as he was still part of their roster just not eligible. he def should have stayed here though bc he would have actually played and put up numbers rather than sitting at home
While pay for play is definitely illegal and tying in nil to any sort of performance is exactly that, pay for play I GUARANTEE that's 100% what they did the first second he was declared ineligible. He probably got 10% of what he agreed to.

I'm wondering whether their NIL deals had incentives to make the playoff and the kids are trying to cash those in or something and the collective is saying no, which it would be in its right to do.
Absolute speculation on my part.

NIL deals can't be performance based. The players are usually obligated to participate in certain promotional events. They don't have to play a single snap, let alone play well.
Right, and if a guy is riding the pine and casual fans don't even know who he is, that's not a really good return on investment.

Let's be real, he wasn't even walking through the doors in Tallahassee if they didn't have an NIL package waiting from him. They also assumed he would get a waiver to play this year.

They talk about leaving but they'll quickly find out the market is not as strong as they think. FSU will call their bluff, offer them a pittance, and the reality is that most of those kids will stay.
Payton is gonna get paid

Would love to know how more NIL $ did FSU offer him for him to leave UM for. $25K? 50? 100? Which im sure he never got and wasted a year of his life. Kid totally play himself. Just lol

Such a joke of a decision. They had a great season but the kid was starting here and would have really been a tremendous help to the defense this year.

I’ve never seen an NIL contract but I have to assume from all the complaining by the players about not getting paid that a good chunk of it isn’t guaranteed but performance based. If that’s true, and Jackson didn’t play a snap, then how much did he really earn this season? Probably would have been much better off staying at Miami. Just a guess.
You mean pay for play?

I don't think that's kosher.
