Darrell Jackson

So, he's willing to sacrifice a year of eligibility to play in one game?

Edit: Or should I say, FSU is willing to throw him under the bus to gain a one game advantage?
He already has to use a RS to sit a year after a denied waiver. So he can play in up to 4 and still keep that. For instance.. if someone transfers and already exhausted their RS and wasn't granted eligibility the clock still ticks and they lose that year. Doesn't really happen anymore because people have the covid year, a RS, and they can get a waiver if they have graduated.

It would be a rare scenario nowadays that they sit and burn a year without having a RS.. but it's happening to Tez Walker. Already burned a RS, came in with 2 years to play 2.. hasn't graduated despite being in college for 4.5 years. No waiver. Now he has 1 year to play.

I remember when Miami rolled NC State in that game in '98 on their back to the mountaintop.
Second only to the Micron PC Bowl (or maybe that was the Carquest Bowl?) where I believe we rolled up UVA and the Barbers. Then GT (Little JHam) in the Gatah Bowl. Little did we know we’d be struggling with these ACC clowns for the next few decades.

You can play in 4 games and RS. I don't think bowl games count towards that total either
I know the rule. I didn't realize he still had a redshirt available.

I thought bowl games count. I seem to remember it was a consideration for some players when we were still going to bowls. But given that they are saying he can play after classes end, I'm unsure which year it would be counted against.

So, are you saying that this year he has to use his redshirt after having been denied a waiver?

If so, I don't understand the reasoning to allow post season play. Games played after the regular season have to count somewhere. As I commented in a previous post, I remember it being an issue for redshirting prior to the NCAA allowing 4 games before losing it. I had assumed it was counted as 1 of the 4 once they allowed play.

Did the updated NCAA rules include some "weasel" language to allow teams an exception?

Correct. A denied waiver = loss in 1 year of eligibility or cash in your RS if you have it. So he's already using his RS this season and he can play in any post season game(s) they have and won't impact his RS due to the 4 game rule.

Perfect year to be over rated man. When we over rated there's like 6 dynasty's going on at once. When fsu is over rated everyone is ordinary. Except us cause we definitely going to ruin there season.
Only thing ordinary about us is the hate we get. We’re bad they hate, we’re ordinary they hate more, we’re good, they hate the most. These mfer’s better get ready to rage their hate. BC this ordinary team playing one game, one team, and winning one game at a time. Soaking up people ignoring us and hating us. All the while putting our foot up their A**.Go Canes🙌🏽#CANESNATIONLIFER

Wait. I was wondering this. If he plays post season that would waste a full year? He’d be moron to play if that’s the case. No offense.

He needs a full season of film. This kid is gonna **** around and become an UDFA.

Make sense. Thanks.

Jackson, Burrough, and the UNC kid aren't "scout team" types. Heck, all three in the 2 deep if able to play especially with Deen injuried.
Regardless, Jackson is not eligible to play. How effective could he be if first snaps are in a CFP game? You play him only if depleted at tackle.

This sounds like the same rule that let's early enrollee Freshmen participate in playoff practices when they could/should still be in high school. There was a story about one of UGAs freshmen enrolling early so they could take part in playoff/natty practices to give them a headstart on spring ball.
