Danny White

I'm a Cane through and through. Have been since 1967. I don't believe, even to this day, we were ever considered a "blue blood" program. We had a 2 decade run for the ages from the early 1980's to the early 2000's beginning with Schnelly when he caught the CFB world by surprise. JJ, Erickson, and Butch kept the ball rolling even through some scandalous moments.

Before our 2 decade run, we were mediocre at best with the powers at be even considering doing away with the football program in the 70's. Since our 2 decade run, we've seen one botched HC hire after another with flashes of the past sprinkled in.

Everyone knows times have changed dramatically since our 2 decade run came to a screeching halt. It'll take an AD with a passion unseen at the U for some time, maybe ever, to get us back to the glory days. Donors with deep pockets will also be a necessity.

Who that might be, and more importantly, would that person come here, is the $64K question for me.

Is he interested in the UM job?

Danny White will be in line for a much bigger job than Miami or Central Florida.

He will parlay his role with the Knights into a major gig in the next 3-5 years.

Leaving Central Florida in it's current growth state—new facilities, 70K students, rising football program—to come rebuild Miami; absolutely a step backwards in his career.

Wishful thinking.

I’ve said this in pretty much every other thread!! First there has to be an opening...then we’ll see if he’s holding out for AD at a blue blood program.

Edit: this would be the jolt this program needs, not just football, but all around Hecht. Dude brought Bobby Hurley to Buffalo, Dawkins to UCF (having a dad as AD of Duke sure helps!), Frost and then Heupel!! It’s not like P5 jobs open up every day so IF we have an opening I wonder how interested he would really be.

THIS IS GOLD!

His father,Kevin White, is the Director of Athletics at Duke. His brother Mike is the head coach of the UF Mens Basketball team while his other brother Brian is athletic director for the FAU and his sister Mariah Chappell is assistant athletic director for the SMU

This family understands the term AD.

Also, UCF has an ongoing campaign called IGNITE started end of 2016. The Campaign for UCF has raised $531 million for student success, faculty endowments and athletic excellence. UCF seems to care more about sports too.
Kevin White is an outstanding AD.

I think he will eventually go back to ND where he played basketball...

I hear what you’re saying, but there are only 65 P5 AD jobs out there. I too think he’ll try to hold out for a bigger gig, but how often do P5 AD jobs come open?? Serious question, as I have no clue. So the question is can you convince him to move up from UCF to a mediocre P5 position? I mean he can always leave if a bigger one comes along. Keep in mind that once again we’re dealing with the BOT and Administration here. Prior to Blake James, they had back-to-back AD’s that bounced for arguably better/more high profile gigs (I’m not sure TTU is, but whatever) with short stints here. If the admin thinks like you and I, that he’s in line for a higher profile position, then you’re right they probably wouldn’t even entertain the thought of even attempting to lure White. Let’s face it this administration just wants to keep collecting the ACC/Adidas checks without rocking the boat in any way shape or form. All the recent hires have been in-house promotions from Blake, CMD, and Dimare or Coach L having to reach out to us lol. No one in the admin wants to put in any time, money or effort to make us even a middle of the road P5 athletic department.

if and when UCF gets out of that conference they are in , and get in a power 5 conference watch out. they will start getting top not recruits. the campus is beautiful, they are upgrading the football facilities, its an up and coming team for sure

Campus is beautiful, but don't dare leave it.

Our AD's have left for jobs like Texas Tech. Don't think this is a very desirable AD destination.

you forget the one that went to Nebraska lol (not sure if hes still there as hes awful too).

hocutt is on the committee now too. also fair to note that hocutt legit bounced right before the shapiro story dropped. he hired golden without even giving him a shred of notice that this may come down the line (wasnt exactly hidden info since the herald did a piece on it a year before or so)
