Not much from me. You hear things, but it's October. A lot of people are reaching out. Coaches agents are very aggressive, so you will hear a lot of smoke. The good info won't come out until later.
 
That's where I'm hanging my hat right now, D$. Hoping against hope that all the Mario/Chud/Schiano stuff is "early process" fluff. Have you heard anything regarding a timetable for when they might make a hire?
 
I wouldn't put any stock into any rumors until December when coaches can be contacted. Way too early for any solid information right now.

This is actually what makes me worried. No one else wants Mario/Chud/Schiano so if we are hearing their names linked to the job, it would not surprise me at all if they are legitimately on a short list of candidates being considered. OTOH, guys like Fuente and Herman are in big demand so their names being linked to the job could be more speculative or their agents could be trying to drive up their price for other jobs.

That's the thing though - they probably are being considered RIGHT NOW because they're the only guys we can talk to who aren't busy being real head coaches somewhere. If their names are still being thrown around in December I'll really be worried.

I'm in inclined to think, the longer the time table the better. Hopefully that means they aren't jumping at Mario, Chud or Schiano.
 
I have a small feeling they are serious about opening the pocket books this time.

They have struck out 3 times.

The Beanerdict/Dud/MonkeyBoy stuff can be blamed on lazy reporting more than anything. I doubt UM has told anyone that those are the guys they want to hire. Frankly, if they wanted to hire any of those jamokes they could do it in 30 seconds.

This whole thing could be as simple as one ****** (Fairy German for instance) busts out a list, and all the lazy idiots who still see Canesport as "the Hurricanes football source" just repeat what he says. Combine that with the local idiots who want to see their friend get the gig and start spreading that he's the top candidate trying to will it to happen, and you have a **** stew brewing.

I know for a fact that Hue Jackson has been interested since last year. The question is, has his success put him in the mix for NFL gigs?

I am so curious to see what he could do here...something tells me he would kill it. But so many questions - who would he put on staff, how would he attack recruiting, does the time away from the college game matter, etc etc...

He has HC experience. He has coached on both sides of the ball. He seems to have the type of personality that young people would gravitate to. He would be the kind of aggressive hire that we need to make (if Butch is truly not an option).

If our stubborn *** admin is really not going to give Butch a shot at this job, I for one would be firmly behind that hire.

I like the idea of Dana Holgerson. I saw his name mentioned on twitter from a football writer. Give him a D-Coordinator and he could be the ACC's worst nightmare. I have flipped flopped on so many guys the last couple days. This will get interesting.

Please lord let him still be interested. Can't believe we missed an opportunity to hire him last year. Hopefully he still wants in on the college game.
