Mike Gundy would be a great hire too, but we're not getting him away from t.boone.

Amazing that people keep spewing the "need a Miami guy" "connections to Miami) rhetoric.

The 2 guys that failed BEFORE Golden were "Miami guys"!

Being a "Miami guy" means nothing!

We need a good coach who's hungry, who has some specialization (offense or defense) that will maximize the talent base, and who wants to be in South Florida with his family.

If that's Charlie Strong, I'd take Charlie Strong ... And I think he would do well.

But I also think Chad Morris, Dana Holgorsen, Bryan Harsin, and Lane Kiffin might be able to do well, too ... At least, on one side of the ball. if nothing else, they'd certainly give us entertaining offenses.

I want whatever you're smoking with anybody on that list outside of Charlie Strong. I do think he would kill it here, but he is a pipe dream as much as Butch Davis is a pipe dream

As a BBB supporter Cribby, if you read between the lines, you'd know that the whole Snyder convo was
a veil to highlight that Coach Davis is plenty young to lead anew UM Football for years to come., if hired.
 
Butch or Charlie Strong would both be homerun hires and our defense & recruiting would be fixed immediately. Not only that if Strong is available because UT let him go we could get either of them for not much $$$. But the dumb ***, soft shouldered *****es in the admin will probably ***** it up AGAIN

After the 3rd consecutive game where his defense gives up 500+ yards and 40 something points you all would be ready to have his head on the chopping block. Offensively he would do wonders, but his defenses have always been sh*t.
 
Only thing is this... Where has he ever been that he could actually get quality defenders? He's never been the head coach at a school that would have access to the quality defenders he would have access to at UM. Also, imagine his offence with South Florida talent. I'd be willing to give him a shot here, but I don't see it ever happening.

mike leach had one decent year at T-TECH. i would rather have Schiano. I think Strong could do good but at same time, his success was because he cleaned up south florida the year Shannon was fired. butch his a homer. I would be fine with Strong or Stoops too.
 
we gotta hope someone gets fired or emerges this year as a top flight candidate if butch is out of the picture hope he's not but if we fired
Al Golden last year who would we be stuck with I mean look at who florida got
 
Yep ...It's a shame we couldn't get rid of Al last year and bring Jim McAwain and Gene Chizik to the party.

The problem with that line of thinking is that there are PLENTY of other coaches in places that don't have access to quality defenders who have put together better defenses than Leach. ****..Wisconsin, Louisville, UCF and Arkansas all had top-10 defenses last year. Stanford was 3rd in total D. Now, you can make excuses and say that UL and Arky had ties to So Fla and and UCF is in FLA, but the point remains that those schools are not typically pulling good defensive talent away from South Florida on a regular basis.

Even at TT or Wazzu, Leach should be able to surround himself with the defensive staff that could put together a top-25 D on a regular basis, which would be enough to get his teams in the BCS hunt, given his offensive prowess. But he's never shown the willingness or ability to do that.

I say hire Mike Leach and hire Muschamp to run your defense. Watch the championships roll in.
 
I was thinking Bill Lazor as well. He had a good year as the Dolphins OC and he was on Chip Kellys staff with the Eagles before that. I want to see what he does with the Dolphins this year.

I love my Canes but I love my Dolphins even more. Stay away from Lazor, he will be the HC of the Dolphins next year if the team doesn't make the playoffs.
