"I did look at the financials of the whole place and they are strong. I feel good about that and I feel good about the want and desire of the upper administration to take this third vertical of the institution—teaching and research, health services, and athletics being the third vertical. That is important when you put it on the same shelf as those two incredible parts of the institution."
That quote right there is telling and probably the biggest selling point for Rad..and why Rad was given the VP title and put on Frenk's senior leadership team. Basically they're going to commit the resources and attention to making athletics just as important as any other department at the school.
I'm actually amazed that this is seemingly getting traction. It truly is a new day for the thought process there and I say that as someone that is absolutely fine with Hard Kock.

But when you mention hard rock. People first thought is the 2017 ND game. Like y’all said win and people should come. Parking, traffic logistics will be looked at my a development team I assume. This just needs enough legs to keep it running.Everyone needs to be careful what they wish for with a stadium close to the school.... I don't think it'll ever happen, but if it did, it's definitely going to be a tight squeeze somewhere.. Still won't be ON-CAMPUS... and will for sure have parking garage(s).. Do you really like tailgating in a parking Garage?? All game day experiences that we're use to will vanish.... I'm not down with that.... Miami people will avoid going to games just because the traffic situation will be a nightmare.... Even at tropical which has better land for the stadium and parking, the bird road and miller traffic would be ridiculous...

Exactly. I think it’s a mistake. Stop letting bad actors dictate the issue and embrace the positives of playing at Hardrock. There's no actual advantage to having to on campus. There aren't enough students and there is absolutely no possible way to make the traffic work. I think as long as it's close that's fine. Tropical Park is less than 10 minutes away and off a major highway.
I've said it before, in lieu of an on campus stadium, if they can build a shopping, restaurant, and entertainment area next to the stadium that's really nice (like City Walk or Disney Springs) you could create an exciting gameday atmosphere all the same. If you build an experience, and not just a stadium, that's fun and exciting you accomplish the same thing as an on campus stadium. Tropical Park has enough space for all that. Plus you create something for the community that exists beyond your 6-7 games per year.

You think building a stadium closer to campus will silence these people? They will clown you on stadium size, lack of amenities, etc. You will never be able to compete with college town stadiums because the universities run the city.
Embrace that you are a big city and build up the area around HR.
Honestly the fans should have more say in this IMO....the players are there for 3-5 years. The fans have been there way before and will be there way after. It's just as much of an experience for the fans as it is the players.Had anyone thought about what the player’s think and want? I see a bunch of fan opinions about parking and atmosphere but have you thought about players finally having a place to call home? How it feels to come out the smoke in their OWN stadium and experience what **** near every big time university experience in their own stadium…I know we worry about about parking and traffic but this is about them…I bet if they had a team vote it would be unanimous! But f@ck them kids, right?![]()
