Dan Mullen Hot Seat

Exactly. Mullen is a good coach and always manages to put together a solid offense but he’s not the guy who’s going to assemble a championship caliber roster. The excuse at MSU was “well, nobody can recruit at Mississippi State” but now that he’s at Florida, he’s still not signing top classes. It’s telling that he had more success with a roster full of McElwain kids than he’s having with his own recruits. Especially defensively, they don’t have anyone

Yup, Mullen gets the most out of his talent. But he's just not a recruiter. That's an important gene to have in CFB.

Maybe qb coach. That is what he is good at. Head scratcher that he started Feleipe over Trask. That alone makes him a corch.
Agree to disagree.

The fact that he designed a dangerous offence (admittedly with two first round picks at WR [miss me with Pitts being listed as a TE!]) around such a physically limited QB is amazing.

I can see why he was hesitant to move on from Franks - he's crap, but he's 15 times the athlete Trask is and both are currently in the NFL.

By many accounts UF is his dream job and he’s still a lazy ***** of a recruiter. Imagine how bad he’d be here. And you know Knox and Hevesy would be a part of the package
UF is his 'dream job' but he's constantly pushing his name out there for NFL gigs?

Dude knows what he is - an Xs and Os coach who can't recruit.

Id rather do muschamp then mario with mullen the team might at least play some defense and for those that like a hardass muschamp can make some mad faces on the sideline with the best of them

Franks in the league? Wow. Mullen loves running qbs that is why he liked Franks. Almost every qb he coached has been a runner, and his offense is geared around it. He went with the safe safe play in Franks. He was big enough to run on a lot of teams. As you said, had explosive wr's though, to me that made Trask the easy call, and if he had got more experience, never know what would have happened. His offense just doesn't run that way though. Stubborn to change even when it doesn't fit. Hmmm sounds familiar lol

Hold up a second. What's up with this hunchback in the making looking guy's wife?
She’s got this little side routine thing going on as part of the Mullet family game day ritual…

I’ve said it before - his highest and best use is as an OC for a top tier coach. He was perfect for Urban, he’d kill it under Saban.

I think Dan Mullen is a championship caliber offensive coordinator but he’s a nine win head coach. The guy can’t recruit.
He can't recruit, but I will say this: His teams tend to be decently coached more often than not. He's the kind of guy that wins you 9-10 games and if you put him in a situation where the recruiting basically takes care of itself, may be able to get over the hump. You'd think UF would be that place, but I think he's alienated the Bull Gators, and that's a big time problem. You need that infrastructure in order to land elite kids, especially when you are fighting UGA and Bama for guys.
