Dan Le Betard Show - Miami Scoop

Sure.

You: "They have hundreds of MOAs that make both entities, at least from an in-patient/surgical perspective, unseverable."

Person more knowledgeable than you: "I would definitely say they’re heavily intertwined but not unseverable."

Keep spinning that weak bullsh!t.
He and I can agree to disagree on the severability. Yes, anything is possible, but I would argue Godzilla and Rodan have more a chance of battling over Port Miami than any severability between UHealth and Jackson.
In point of fact, some portions of TJC evaluate Jackson and UHealth areas as one in the same.

If you need a referral, we can help and facilitate it to get you the care you clearly need.

You really believe you win these?

Did you ride short buses with tinted windows as a kid?

If it's 20-30M recurring, it's a significant % increase from our presumed previous operating budgets. Question is whether or not it's recurring or a one-time cash infusion from which we expect to produce self-sustaining revenue.
I read it as a one-time infusion of big bucks but ... that could be wrong on my part.

Hilarious.

"The "I really said this, but then really didnt say it, you know what I'm saying?" Is a hallmark of the weak bullshït artist."

Or maybe you can explain why your "brevity" and "layman" excuses led you to opine on how UM could be open to $400 million of liability with "a misstep or two".

You are the king. The King of Weak Bullsh!t Artists, as you call it.

Look, I don't care if you name-drop every hospital in the country while you backpedal, the reality is that you stepped into deep dogsh!te when you claimed that UM's $400 million in profits could be wiped out with "a misstep or two", and all the attempted argumentative rehab in the world is just in keeping with what YOU claimed was the "hallmark of the weak bullsh!t artist".

Wear your crown. Your crown of weak bullsh!t.
Do you really believe the garbage that comes out of your mouth? Posters like you is why posters like me don't sign on very often. This place is markedly different from when you went into time out to your Asperger's flare up.

Get a life.

I dont think so. I believe they said an upping of the annual budget by $20MM-$30MM. Would have to be at least a substantial increase as Miami tries to land $$$$$$ HC and the $$$$$$$ assistants and other pieces that MUST come with.

Who pays though? Do Golden Canes give seed money for a few years until the program is generating larger revenue to self-fund?

Does UM up the budget is an era of escalating academic costs? Not a great look right??

I've known Purinton for over 20 years. Real good dude. But, he's a die hard Nole deep down.
You don't think he would jump at the chance to run his own program or you think he is just waiting for FSU position to open up. I'm not sure of their situation but it's not unrealistic if Norvell continues to bomb that they axe the current AD

There is no question he would be on a plane the next day if FSU came calling. Not sure if that would ever happen. He had a good time at FSU back in the 90s. I’m sure there’s a sense of romanticism for him. That town used to be a blast and most people who attended in that era are major die hards.

90% of the post on this board leave me thinking this place is filled with complete idiots. Then a discussion like this happens and I realize that there are some very professional and intelligent people roaming these halls. I began reading this thread and never imagined there would be a side discussion on SI lmao. Well done fellas.
Lmfao CIS is the gift that keeps on giving. Never know what you’re gonna find on this board. Although I love all my Canes brethren, we’re not all the We Ballin Boy singing in the shower while wearing a fake turnover chain type.

I went to a Marlins game with my ex brother in law (ND fan), ex-gf (gator fan) and ex-sisters in law (one gator fan, one Seminole fan. Yeah I know I was surrounded by unfriendlys) and I saw Joe Zagacki passing by and I was like “The Voice of the hurricanes!!!”. Joe Z being the sly son of a gun he is gave me a fist bump and a “Go Canes”. Ex family in law was like “Who’s that?” And I responded with “Joe Z the Voice of the Hurricanes”. Ex Brother in law said, “Oh **** you’re a real fan aren’t you. I won’t question that ever again”

That is alot of exes.

It’s just a narrative that everybody wants to fill and feel is true. It’s pretty much like every announcer coming on the air talking about the “speed” and “athletes” that Miami has on defense. It’s a generalization that was once true, so it must still be true to this day. Clearly they haven’t seen our LB position
Have no inside information on Miami finances over the years but I personally think there has always been a lot more money available to spend on Canes football than has been spent. Administration has just been unwilling to spend it

I'd say better Nutrition and training table. Miami's players always seem to look smaller compared to bigger programs where football is taken more seriously.
So, you are mad that Miami isn't running a old school USSR style steroid program. It's not an accident that a lot of Alabama guys get smaller once they hit the NFL, because the NFL at least attempts to test for PEDs. I would want an improved nutrition table, just because that helps any S&C program maximize what a guy can be. That said, barring Miami going full ham on the PEDs, I don't see Miami guys having that kind of cartoonish size and strength. However, Miami starts recruiting more freak athletes, maybe we look better getting off the bus.

Yep, because it makes a ton of sense for Miami to sit on money that could go to football, just because. A likely one time cash infusion to the program doesn't change the fact that there are legitimate reasons why you can't just move money around for football willy nilly. Never mind the funds that legally can't be moved(Earmarked), and other potential legal issues(Title IX).

It's amazing that so many people, who never trusted this administration to begin with are buying this "We're going to spend whatever it takes, by having UHealth subsidize the program" snow job. This smells like a "Say whatever needs to be said to said to get the bad PR to go away" ploy, and knowing how Frenk and others on the BOT operate, it makes a ton of sense. Blake James was incompetent, but I don't think he thought that everything was going to be "No" unless he was told that. I'm quite sure he would want to be employed and having funding to do whatever needs to be done is one of the easiest ways for an AD to stay gainfully employed.

Now, I'm not denying that UHealth is putting some cash in, but I would be willing to bet that there is a tacit agreement between Frenk and the people at UHealth that this isn't going to be permanent. In other words, UHealth puts money in now(Think seed money for a startup), the program better start leveraging that and turning a profit and become a self supporting entity that can compete. In other words, the benefits our fans keep touting better happen, which means that if this thing gets turned around(Which I hope happens), fans better actually do something they didn't do in the "Decade of Dominance", nor in the 2000-2004 run: SHOW UP AND SPEND MONEY.

Miami spends $30 million on football already. You add an infusion of 20-30 million and you’re probably the highest budget private school football program in the P5 by a mile.
You are doubling the budget, which is great. The question I have is how Miami can spend that 20-30 million on football and skate around Title IX requirements(You know someone is going to say something and that's not a PR nightmare this school can deal with right now) That means UHealth will have to give the athletic department another 10 million or something, so they can spread the love. Throw Meier, Tews and Deem some cash and support, so everyone is happy.

Think through this just a moment muppets...

Press release: Coral Gables, FL

During this time of heightened public health focus, medical staff burnout, ballistically increasing provision of care costs, intense provider vs facility contracts, aging infrastructure sustainment/replacement requirements, flatlined/declining reimbursement rates from all payers, increasing uninsured/under insured patient populations, HHS clawbacks for re-admissions, skyrocketing pharmacy/compound pharmacy expenses, etc. The University of Miami has decided it is in our best interest to harvest "excess" funds from UHealth product lines and re-direct them to assist the Athletic Department in building championship caliber programs. When asked about this bold initiative, Dr. Frenk, the University's President stated, "I planned this alongside Joe Echevarria [UHealth CEO] with full support from the BoT that this path we are on is the most ethical, moral, and best use of healthcare funds. Our brilliant legal team has also assured me this will not invite any scrutiny from government regulators or place at risk our PPS-exempt status along with of course HRRP, considering a significant portion of our reimbursements are directly from Medicare and Medicaid. In fact, we've heard from HHS they not only support this idea, but LOVE IT, and want bring it to other University Health Systems across the country."

Have you lost your minds?
