Yea this Adidas deal hasn’t done what was said to have happened. We were supposed to be their “Oregon”. Now all we get is some dumb all black unis once a year.

Assistant AD, correct? Bama has a solid athletic dept from CFB, CBB, TF, & their Baseball program has improved.

Definitely wouldn’t mind that hire…another hire is Iowa’s assistant AD/CFO Greg Davies (although he just took a promotion to that position). Iowa runs a solid Athletics Dept w/ their CFB, CBB, CBBW & T&F (long distance/decathlon)
 
I don't understand hiring a firm in our current situation, that they plan on going after proven HC's.... I think a firm helps if you are open to targeting lower level program HC's and coordinators.... so why waste the money on a firm if we truly know the 5-6 proven HC options that they would even consider this time around???

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought you were saying that the $30M was for all of athletics and not just football.

Basically, yes Asst AD. It would not be a bad hire, obviously. I just prefer someone that has done it as a "lesser" program and given great results. Picky, yes but no Purinton wouldn't be a bad hire by any means IMO.

Which I’m intrigued by Iowa’s Athletic Dept. The grounds of recruiting is less than optimal, yet they are always vying for a top 10 ranking w/ a bunch of 3 stars across all their sports.

Well he won because he had Justin Herbert who pretty much carried the team. He went 4-3 in his first season without him. He's now 9-1

For Year 1, most of the extra cash will go towards buyouts and payouts.

Just curious what are some of the areas that our facilities/football program really needs to upgrade? Feels like we've made some progress in the last few years but trail the big boys by a lot. Some that come to mind based off what I know - locker room, players lounge, nutritional stuff, recruiting budget, etc. Seems like 20-30 Mill could go a long way.

I agree 100%. They don't need a firm to hire proven seasoned coaches. A firm should find that diamond in the ruff. The up-and-comers.

Seems like they're hiring a firm just to check off a box. Wasted money IMO. You're hiring a new AD. That person is going to choose a new HC based on his or her relationships.
 
The extra $20-$30M is nice, but where does that put us in relation to the Alabama's & Georgia's of the world? I know we'll never have more money than the "football is God" State schools, but how close does it get us?

So yes, as you stated, but didn't process, he will be winning 11-13 games both with Herbert, and without. In just 3.5 seasons. And you conveniently forget that he's been recruiting better then any coach in the history of OU. Stop.
