I mean this has got to at least point in Mario's direction, no? It's been strongly hinted that Mario would never come here unless

1. Blake were removed
2. Miami showed it was serious financially about athletics

Granted, what respectable coach would come here without the above happening? Nevertheless those two issues have been tied specifically to the Mario chatter, at least by folks like @Cribby et al.

Mario or no, it's nice to see us finally taking the game seriously.

Miami not having money is not a CSI rumor. Miami not WANTING to spend has always been what our guys say. Now they want to spend finally.

This has ALWAYS been the case. Miami absolutely, 1000000% has the resources available to commit more to the athletic department than they had in years past. It was the CHOICE to not spend the money on athletics. This was always a won't do, NOT a can't do.

Well, maybe (and I'll believe it when I see it), after 20 years of mediocrity and being passed by just about every major program, people are finally starting to realize that you get what you pay for in this world. The CFB landscape is so much different today than it was in the 1980's that they may as well have been playing the sport on Mars. It's not even remotely comparable. The powers at be at Miami never moved on from the 80s. "We did it this way forever and were successful. Why change now?" Well, you can't do it the old way anymore. You simply cannot. You have to spend money to compete.

So, possibly, this has FINALLY been realized by the people sitting on the big wallets. We'll see. But the "Miami is broke" narrative has always been hilarious. Bill Gates looks broke. He wears jeans from 1994 and drives a Subaru. But he sure as **** ain't broke. That was Miami, and really still is until we actually make these rumored changes. We just act broke. We are not broke.

Put this in your pipe and smoke it and after that tune out the national media. Miami has money, Miami has always had money, Miami CHOSE to not spend money on the football program, specifically the coaching staff. Julio Frenk has a twitter, he posted one of his last post, saying they are close to raising 2.5 Billion, thats with a B.

With that comes mediocrity and the griping about where the stadium is located, facilities, bags. And on and on. I will say it again. Miami #1 recruiting tool is a proper coaching staff. You dont spend on that, its 7-5, 8-4. With population growth since we were good and the dolphins sucking ***, Miami has alot of fans to win over and increase the attendance simply by winning. Yall seen a glimpse of it in 2017. Put together just 3 or 4 season like that in 5 years and all that yapping out the window.

The sleeping giant stirs.
To paraphrase a WWII Japanese Admiral who was against the bombing of Pearl Harbor, "I fear that we have awakened a sleeping giant."

Frenk's sincere, legitimate and long term commitment for UM football dominance to return, has given me more optimism than anything else to this point. He "gets it" now and we will soon be hated across this fair country of ours, which is exactly what we need to be - hated because we're dominating CFB.

Here’s an article from 2019, so I’m sure the figures have changed but I’m not doing an extensive google search to find updated numbers. Miami isn’t listed but if those numbers are true adding it to whatever Miami currently pays, would put them at or near the top.
Miami is 25th at 28.47M. Add another 20M and we may surpass Notre Dame as the top spending private school.
