Lanning is staying for CFPMy guess is that muschamp will be interim DC for the CFP but Kirby will probably tell Schumann that the job is his next year.

It’s all good man, either way you’re right and it sucks for Schumann. Hopefully it works out in our favor.sorry brother, I misunderstood you. I should have asked you to clarify instead of seemingly pushing back. My apologies.
Schumann would be a flat out moron to not accept that; Kirby would essentially be slapping him in the face by promoting a senior analyst over him.Lanning was making $1.75M. The key is if Muschamp calls the defense. If Mario offers the play-calling AND the money, the Canes may have a chance.
Yes, but not every coach wants to pack up and move across country, even if he was offered. He knows Mario, and may haven taken the interview as a courtesy, to maintain the connection, and even as a practice interview. He’s a young coach, after all.was thinking that, but then remembered Mario apparently interviewed and offered (?) him the job at Oregon last year and he turned him down. Think Mario at Miami is more appealing than Lanning at Oregon, but I guess we will see. That is if he doesn't just stay at Georgia.
Not nearly as plugged in as Cribby or most but my childhood friend sons plays there and this is the feeling. Muschamp is close with Smart if they are CO-DCs Muschamp will call plays. UM would have an advantage with letting him call plays.Players think higher of Schuman than Lanning. Kirby might go the conservative safe route and choose the proven commodity . Which could work in our favor , Mario has a relationship with Schuman
Take off Co-DC for Salave'a and this is what I want. So…?
DC - Schumann
DT/AHC/Co-DC - Salave’a
DE/OLB - Partridge
I’m assuming Schumann calls the plays. A lot of schools have a DC and a Co-DC, or a DC and Associate DC.Take off Co-DC for Salave'a and this is what I want.
I mean I guess if Co-DC is in name only it's fine if Schumman is fine with it.
cribby changed that backed to smoke..what you hearing cribbyPlayers think higher of Schuman than Lanning. Kirby might go the conservative safe route and choose the proven commodity . Which could work in our favor , Mario has a relationship with Schuman
Preach pastorKirby starts a walk-on over jt daniels. Don’t underestimate his ability to *** sht up.
He might not need a top OC. That defense will lose possibly 6-8 players and their DC. The front 7 won't be the same with Dean and big man Davis gone from the middle. I know UGA recruits at a really high level but it will hurt to replace those two.Guess who Oregon plays for their season opener next year?
UGA in Atlanta @ Mercedes Benz Stadium...
Impeccable timing, hope Dan gets a good OC lol.
So…?
DC - Schumann
DT/AHC/Co-DC - Salave’a
DE/OLB - Partridge
The Jim Knowles and Marcus Freeman types don’t really grow on trees. There’s only a few elite level DCs available every year because the elite ones actually become HCs.Why are we so pressed for this guy to be our DC when he's never even called plays before? From my understanding, only two things that make him an attractive prospect outside of being a so called "rising star" and a good recruiter is he worked at Bama and UGA.
I'm not saying he won't be successful but I'd prefer to have somebody who's done it before. If we're paying top dollar, might as well get the best candidates out there. Even if it means taking from another team's DC.
OSU just took Ok. States DC with ease. ND took Cinci's DC, Marcus Freeman, last year. Why can't we do the same?
I know his name isn't as attractive but give me Gary Patterson and surround him with recruiters.
Sauphia is a really strong name
I definitely get what you're saying but the point I'm trying to make is we have options and need to be patient. Just because a guy is a hot name and can recruit doesn't mean he'll be a good coordinator. The Jim Knowles and Marcus Freeman types don’t really grow on trees. There’s only a few elite level DCs available every year because the elite ones actually become HCs.
With that said, you do have Muschamp right there available as well so you can definitely make the case that he is the safer pick of the two. Beyond him though I’m not sure there are really any other surefire home runs.
Doug Belk is the hot name but even he only has 1 year of play calling experience. Tressel is similar to Belk. The Big 10 guys (Leonhard, Heacock, etc) I feel like are lifers or HC in waiting. Durkin is interesting but also toxic.
