Maybe the guy just wanted To run his own stuff with his own ideas without the warden standing over him.

Honestly it’s always going to be a battle to get the best top S Fla talent these days, but I truly believe we lost two or three of the top guys in the ‘19 class because of how inept the offense was. A good offense will go a long way for us to be able keep them kids in play and stick with us.
Agreed with all of this.

It’s always going to be tough but these kids, especially the elite ones, are not ******* stupid. They don’t try and dissect why we lost to Duke....as Hasselwood pointed out....you lost to a basketball school. You lost to GT that got whooped by Minnesota. It ain’t even any more than that. And we looked like complete **** on offense.

An elite player that isn’t a “Miami ride or die” kid isn’t going to be convinced to come here unless other factors are at play.

It’s one thing to leave a coordinator job to be the Head Coach at Tennessee, Georgia, or Maryland or go from being a position coach to OC at Michigan. This was a lateral OC move.

Miami is nice place to live and, at some point in one's life, being happy about going to work is more important than what title you have.

So many Miami fans are like beaten wives. They can’t imagine how a coach could leave Alabama for Miami. Well maybe he sees an amazing opportunity BECAUSE it’s Miami. Ground zero for speed, recruiting, and exciting football. Untapped and under utilized for the past 15 years. Anyone with a brain knows it’s a career maker. Now he can recruit his whole WR core in his own backyard and find a QB anywhere in the country. We have had so many years of mediocrity many fans have forgotten we sit on a goldmine.

Maybe.

Out of this world move by Manny selling this guy on a lateral move but honestly was it even lateral?!?

People crying about this hire are honestly utterly clueless. It's one thing to take a wait and see approach, understand we brought out the big boys, and see what happens but to call this a bad hire? Clueless
There is more to This. Might be as much about family and lifestyle as anything. Maybe the family wanted out of the podunk small town south.

I think Manny probably told him he's got full control of the offense. That would be very appealing to any OC.

Imagine you go to a job interview as a manager at company ABC and the person hiring you says, "Once your hired I'm going to be looking over your shoulder everyday and questioning what you do. You'll need me to sign off on your decisions. " Meanwhile, you go for that manager job at company XYZ and they're like, "We like what you do. You'll have full control over your department and all the decisions that go with it." I've had jobs at both types of companies.
XYZ lis a lot more appealing. It was a "no brainer" to me.
