LFG. Our DL might not be best in the entire fuggin country next season like it was this year, but we will still be elite next year. Top 5? Ceiling of next year raises with Wilson.
They going after other guys too for DT tackle rotational

No, with Wilson and leaps from Scott, Lightfoot, and Blount, as well as just the expected output of Lowe’s talent, it might actually be the best in the nation. At worst, top 3.

This assumes Moten returns. If he does and plays at the level he did at the end of the season, you’re talking about 2 possible first rounders and a flurry of other future draft picks.

I still like Blount at nt he gives them fits with his first step . Entertaining to watch them try to block someone 30 pounds lighter and he beats them 9 out of 10 times

If Moten returns and Miami lands Wilson and Keona Davis the 2026 defensive line is going to be elite again and even deeper (pause). Justin Scott, Lightfoot, and Blount all took massive jumps from year 1 to year 2 and I fully expect them to take another step in their development. Those three 5 stars, finally in their JR year, playing in this Hetherman defense for the second season, are going to dominate.

DE/DT Rotation
  1. JR Armondo Blount 6-4 280
  2. JR Keona Davis 6-5 280
  3. RSO Cole McConathy 6-5 280
  4. RFR Hayden Lowe 6-5 270

DE Rotation
  1. SR Damon Wilson 6-4 250
  2. JR Marquise Lightfoot 6-5 240
  3. RSO Booker Pickett 6-3 240
  4. SO Herbert Scroggins 6-3 260
  5. FR Asharri Charles 6-2 240

DT Rotation
  1. RSR Ahmad Moten 6-3 305
  2. JR Justin Scott 6-4 310
  3. SO Jarquez Carter 6-1 300
  4. RFR Mykah Newton 6-3 290
  5. FR Keshawn Stancil 6-3 290

*projecting a 10 pound weight gain for current underclassmen* for all of you “that’s not how weight gain works” guys, I totally understand, this is just a projection. I am not saying that this is fact and will happen for sure.

Young guys who I don’t expect to play much, but this show just how deep this team could be along the D line (pause).

DE/DT Rotation
  1. FR Tyson Bacon 6-3 270
  2. FR Isaac Chukwurah 6-3 270
  3. FR Logan Nagle 6-5 290

DE Rotation
  1. FR DeAnthony Lafayette 6-1 240

DT Rotation
  1. FR Frederic Sainteus 6-4 285

Scroggins has already played DT a few snaps vs Texas A&M.

Bain will be the hardest to replace , his size and strength is crazy . Meaning he plays the runs prob better the pass and he’s an elite pass rusher too. He throws blockers in the rb path type man strength . He prob be one of the best de who ever played at Miami imo
3 and 4 are the best duo I’ve ever seen. Full stop.

Cant replace them. So we will need a group effort and we would be well on our way with Wilson and Moten back. Blount, Scott, and Lowe are true 5 stars. People forget Blount had #1 recruit in his class trajectory before he reclassified

Sounds to me like you're saying next year's DE gonna be more efficient at getting sacks

Hope you're right. I don't envision next year's team having the consistent wrecking force of Bain and Mesi. It does feel like it will be deeper.

The freak show level of the DL would be off the charts

No one replaces 3 and 4. No one.

But the group could overall be deeper and more athletic next year…somehow
It was a major factor this year. SMU and UL gassed us on the DL. Indianas time of possession got Mesidor tired along with going 6 inline. Had we had more experience and depth at DT and DE, you never know how that season plays out.

If the O improves(tough ask with so much experience on OL leaving), we could be a more balanced team.

If moten come back this will like that Clemson dline that had 3 first rounders
That was also the team that had lost the title game the year before
And then won it all the next year

It would be very different looking. We would locking up the middle and concerned about the edge rushing. Hopefully the team speed improves allowing for a solid rush defense. The pass rushing could actually improve a small amount due to overall improvement of the defense. Locking up receivers longer, dt getting inside pressure more often, outside guys having more speed…

Don’t think it’s a coincidence Bain had a slight dip in production after he played like 90 snaps against FSU

Good point about the secondary. I am confident our defense will be elite again next year
