Quiet/introverted is not the same as grounded. It sounds like he's immature to me. Many guys his age are, which doesn't necessarily make him a bad kid, but when you're asking for the money he's asking, you can't be immature anymore. If you want to treat this like a "business" and get paid, you have to act like someone who's mature enough for it.

You're not wrong. I'll just say even the family member thought it was on. Never said anything about not coming or cancelling. That's some cold ****. I sure look like a dumbass buying into a fairytale.

Nah, not on you. You were giving your perspective from what you saw or were told, it's good conversation. You never got defensive or deflected like so many do when it goes sideways. It's on the kid and/or the support system around him.
