It would be really funny if we threw Jojo out there. Didn't he use to lock down Smith in high school and youth?
 
Whoever we feel can line up best with Tate should get a go at it and bracket smith otherwise play zone and hope to get some pressure on sayin

My how times have changed so fast....win 10 games..win a first round matchup..get a little recognition..now we got fans basically saying our starting CBs, on probably the best defense we have had since 2018, are basically average at best. Lol. I had no clue fans thought so little of Lucas and OJ. Amazing what comes out when you got a little juice now. God forbid we beat OSU. Will have folks saying Bell and Cici are no good and overrated compared to UGAs DL. 🙄

Damari locked Smith down in high school. That’s the whole point of this conversation that’s been going on. But he’s hurt, so next man up.

yeah idk what is up with Brantley. Dude was supposed to be a big time CB get out of the portal, I know he had a credit issue that was the reason we didnt even see him dressed early on but he seems engaged. I know some people thought he would project better at the nickel, but when Scott went down he didnt sniff the field. I personally thought keep him outside where he did really well, but we lost Damari and OJ and once again couldnt see a snap. Weird all around.
 
Taking away Smith and Tate are big in this game. Since I am bringing pressure (blitzing) Sayin a lot, I am more concerned with jumping his hot route. You have to get him uncomfortable to win. We have to stop the run 1st, get pressure on Sayin and he hits the hot route quick under pressure. You need to know Sayin's tendencies instead of worrying about just who is covering JJ. Rumors coming out of their camp is Day will be running less 13,14 personell, particularly in the red zone. I wouldn't be surprised by a little tempo early. I am ready.
 
Would like to have him healthy and out there but we will be fine on defense without him. Yall overrating him.

This game will come down to whether our offense can put up some points because 10 wont cut this time around.

I don't expect us to do much differently than we have all season defending the pass. We aren't going to play press man all game long. There will be WRs open, either from soft cushions outside the hashes or down the field against our zones. We just have to tackle in space, and ideally not have any coverage busts deep. Live to fight another play.

Our best defense against Smith and Co is our pass rush. If we can harass and get to Sayin consistently with 4 or 5 rushers, then we've got a shot. If he has time, he's probably going to pick us apart since he's the most accurate QB in the country. They get in the redzone, we need to hold them to FGA or turn them over, as we have been doing a lot over the last 5 games.

Maybe Hetherman dusts off the bracket with Jakobe Thomas he showed against Deuce Robinson along the sideline, but they move Smith around so much not sure that's going to work great.
