DAILY DEBATE: Who is the most underrated team in the Top 25?

I'd have to believe it to see it as far as stacking up with powers like UGA, Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas. We've never even shown up to compete when playing Alabama, Clemson at their peak, FSU when they were a playoff/NCG power, etc. in the last decade.

I see it like this comparing the top 6 teams to Miami
OC: Ole Miss>Texas/Bama>Oregon>OSU>Miami>UGA
DC: UGA>Bama>OSU>Texas>Miami>Oregon/Ole Miss
QB: Miami/Oregon>Texas/UGA/Bama>Ole Miss>OSU
RB: OSU>Miami>Oregon>UGA>Bama>Ole Miss>Texas
WR: Ole Miss>>Oregon>OSU>Miami>Texas>Bama>UGA
OL: UGA>Texas>Alabama>Oregon>Miami>Ole Miss/OSU
DL: Ohio State>UGA>Ole Miss/Miami/Oregon>Bama/Texas

So in the mix everywhere. I feel like we should be able to compete at that level at least on paper. Not factored is ranking the HC of each team where Mario would easily slot into last place by a wide margin. Maybe that is the differentiating factor in the gap from 1-6 to Miami.

QB is probably up for discussion. NFL draft projections are probably different having Beck higher and Gabriel lower but I'm not high on Beck. Ward seems to be in the top 3 round conversation at worst and mentioned by many to be this year's Jayden Daniels.. which would probably have him QB1 in the draft in a weaker year.
If you’re counting lane as the oc for olemiss id switch us and oregon for dc, lanning and/or lupoi > guidry imo. And lowkey we might have osu at wr this year especially with how their gonna operate

But this isn’t a bad evaluation at all imo but in the cb/s and lb department we are probably last in all of these by a good margin.

We would have to dominate on the margins, steal possessions, time management, turnovers, field position, calculated risks and then hope cam just goes insane.

Lane and Sark are the true OCs though and Lanning is not calling their defense. That's where that came from. I guess when you factor in Lanning's influence on the defense it matters. I factored in Kirby Smart's influence at UGA to push him over Wommack and Knowles. I also debated us over OSU at WR but Ebuka is probably a first rounder and we don't have that and then bought into what I've heard on Smith. Subject to change that but gave OSU benefit of the doubt for recent history at the position.

As for LB and DB I would have to do more research but based on what I think now:
LB: UGA>Texas>Oregon>Miami>Bama>OSU>Ole Miss - Miami/Bama/OSU is close. I think Kiko sets us above the other 2
DB: OSU>Georgia>Oregon>Texas>Bama>Ole Miss>Miami - could probably flip Miami and Ole Miss. All I know is they have Trey Washington and the Hamilton kid that transferred in. Both are good. Trey Amos is starting and he's not special and Turnage from TN is starting at nickel and he's cheeks.

I'd argue talent-wise it gets more and more even across the board and the gaps between the teams get smaller with each year.

Just a matter of inserting the talent into proper schemes and developing the talent to the point where they can consistently execute.

I agree. The biggest gap from the top team to the bottom team is probably WR comparing Ole Miss to Georgia. Lane Kiffin compared to Mike Bobo at OC is a huge gap as well.

Ohio State's secondary compared to our secondary is a similar gap.

Yea id have us 2nd to last at lb im not really as high as everyone else on kiko, solid player tho and based on what we’ve seen wes was bad last year imo maybe he takes a jump but we’ll see. So id have us behind bama and osu

Can also consider position value weights: https://www.nfl.com/news/ranking-ea...from-quarterback-to-returner-0ap3000000503855 ; consensus is College is similar but more skewed to running but then when the big boys play each it looks like the NFL meta game again. Canes have quality at a lot of those positions in the top 10. If e.g. Ewers gets outplayed by Ward going HAM then Texas back 7 isn't saving them IMO because offense wins when offense is in the zone and doesn't get blown up at the LOS. I always think of those stacked Bama defenses that got shredded by Deshaun Watson.

I am worried about his cover skills, ready for Pruitt to ball immediately and shut down that Gator dink and dunk.

One thing I never do is come to a debate unprepared. Of course I looked at the schedule & have a full run down of their roster & Coaching staff additions/subtractions.

There is no material reality where Iowa beats OH ST at the Horseshoe.

Iowa ST, Mich ST, Wisconsin & Nebraska are all toss ups, none of those games are guaranteed W's for Iowa.

You might be believing in their Defense a little too much.
