- Be able to catch the ball EVERYTIME...OR know when to stay away from it and let it bounce

Every other trait (quickness, toughness, vision, blah, blah, blah) is meaningless.

Yup... I think this is the ticket.

With two caveat... first game X is back there on punts, too big of a game with too much on the line to have a JT4 issue again.

Second caveat on punt returns if the other team is punting on our side of the 50, once again put X back there. Reason being is I think 90% of those punts based on the stat I just made up result in either touchbacks or fair catches so speed, elusiveness etc. are irrelevant and making the catch and knowing where you are on the field making said catch are the only two things to consider.

Last thing I want is someone trying to make a play fielding a punt or losing where they are on the field and catching something inside the 5. Just have to know when to catch it and when to let it bounce. IDK if they stopped teaching this but my coaches used to say put your heels on the 7 yardline. If you have to take one step back, dont and let the ball do its thing.

I just looked at the stats.
We had 35 returned kicks and only 13 returned punts. Nuts. Kickers nowadays are too good.
That's 13 games and only total 48 chances. Less than 4 touches a game.
