Daily debate: what QB would you want over Carson Beck?

Miami beat Cal and he threw one INT, so per board logic he was garbage.

A lot of porsters didn’t consider Mendoza was Cals entire offense and had no offensive line whereas Beck was on a UGA roster with 20+ 5 stars.

Mateer and Mendoza were my top two realistic options . I’ve never liked Beck but I thought he’d be a good enough game manager with the OL and Dawson. I didn’t know we’d revert back to Gattis lite. Beck can’t be trusted to be more than a manager , he’s proven to be an awful decision maker in spurts. That’s been his MO for three years.
 
Maybe it’s not the QBs that are the issue. Cam was an outlier. A #1 pick NFL talent with an arm that can make any throw and a next level ability to extend plays moving in the pocket. There aren’t many of them around.

Watching the GT/NC State game last night on paper both of those guys would be huge upgrades over Beck. But who’s to say, if they were our QB, what they would be allowed to do on the field. Time and again I can see the defense lining up right where our play is going. Whether it’s the A gap dive or a bubble screen and DBs are crowding the LOS knowing it’s coming. If your QB isn’t allowed to change plays does any of it matter. You could have Brady back there and it would look the same.

We're bowl-qualified, no? So, why not see what we have and give Nickel/Williams a shot. Especially if we lose yet again.

Has a highly-paid Portal QB recruit ever been benched? So, there's the optics of that to take into consideration I guess. Sticky situation most HCs would prolly want to avoid.

I’m looking over that list @Memnon made and I asked myself “If we had anyone of these guys as our starting QB, would we really be an 8-0 team right now and have a firepower offense?” The answer is no. I’m in now way defending Beck because yes, he hasn’t been good enough. However, we have way bigger issues

Because Mario thought he could strike gold all second time with Beck. The way D$ kept attempting to draw parallels between the 2 wasn't a coincidence.

Once we went to overtime i literally walked off and went about my day I knew we weren’t winning with Beck and that play calling
 
Mario isn't getting anywhere without a QB that can run. Beck is limited in the regard and is holding this offense back in the run game. Every defense knows he can't run for **** so they stack the box and our RB are suffering from it.
