Dabo to the Texans?

Renegotiate? He signed a 10 yr 93 million dollar deal only a couple years ago. He's actually getting paid more than Nick Saban now.
that's not possible since Saban has a contract that automatically adjusts to make him the highest paying coach in the NCAA.

Unless something changed, as of last year Dabo had the richest contract in terms of total value because of the number of years. Ive not heard of Sabans escalation clause, but even if it exists, his current contract runs through 2025, so Swinney beats him.

The reality is, how many college head coaches have won a Super Bowl? Its JJ and thats it. Bellichek, Reid, etc. plus the great ones of the past never even were head coaches in college.

Pete Carroll? Barry Switzer?

Hank Stram was a UM assistant coach before he took the Head Coach position with the Chiefs (originally the Texans). Hank Stram had NO prior NFL experience (technically, he started in the AFL).

John Madden was at San Diego State before taking the Raiders job. John Madden had NO prior NFL experience. Yes, he was LB coach of the Raiders for 2 years, but he was pretty much Al Davis' HC-in-waiting.

Bill Walsh was HC at Stanford prior to San Francisco. He had prior NFL experience, but never as a HC.

Most Super Bowl head coaches had some college HC experience prior to going to the NFL.

Someone would have to make him a deal he couldn't refuse. Like $15m a year. He's got way too kush a deal at Clemson and I can't see him leaving there in the next 15 years unless things go unexpectedly downhill or a scandal erupts.

Good question.

Even Saban tried the NFL. I think the ship has sailed on Dabo to Bama, much like "Don James to Miami". For the record, Don James was at Washington for 18 seasons. Dabo is in his 13th season at Clemson. Alma mater is powerful, but so is doing your own thing.

And I don't think Dabo does himself any favors by trying to "go back home" to follow Saban. CONSTANT comparisons.

I think he goes to the NFL, and if things don't work out, he's still had a great career. Dude's about to turn 51. And he'd be great as a TV analyst if he didn't have a long NFL HC tenure.
not sailed at all he'll be the 1st call

Dabo ain't leaving. Jesus Christ.

Clemson had to be worried enough that he'll leave for Bama that they specifically wrote in that the buyout is doubled if he leaves for the Tide. Odd thing to put into a contract (signed in 2019) for a coach if everyone is so sure he's staying.

I know Alabama will call him, but what can they offer him that he doesn't already have (besides the alma mater appeal). Clearly, it's not money. I think Dabo stays at Clemson if he doesn't jump to the NFL.

Again, the only point I'm making is that it takes two parties to agree. I fully believe that Alabama may target him. I'm not convinced that he would jump.

Mike DuBose and Mike Shula were also Alabama grads.

Thomas did something wrong in a particular defense. Edwards corrected him from the sideline. Thomas yelled to correct him later. Get on with the scrimmage, Thomas said.

Saban stopped practice. He stomped toward Thomas.

"Next time a coach is talking to you, you shut the f--- up!" he yelled.

Thomas yelled for Saban to shut up, that he wasn't some kid. "I'm a grown-*** man!" Thomas roared, ripping off his helmet. They got in each other's face. Teammates pulled Thomas back.

"I will bench you!" Saban yelled.

"Bench me!" Thomas yelled.

It wasn't the only time a player was pulled from Saban. Struggling quarterback Daunte Culpepper screamed at Saban at being replaced by Joey Harrington the next year to the point Taylor separated the two in a practice.

It's football. Emotion happens. But the Thomas story, confirmed by four witnesses, became legendary inside the team. The immediate reaction was telling. As one player related, he went up to Thomas later that day and said, "You're my hero."

"And I wasn't alone," the player says all these years later. "I know other guys went up to Zach and said that for how he stood up to Nick."

Sounds like more of a Zach Thomas problem then a Nick Saban problem

Dabo would be stupid to even consider going to the pro because Pro coaches are hired to be fired for the most part.He can see from Saban and Spurrier failures, two coaches that are supposed to be in the upper echelon of CFB coaching ,that their CFB sht doesn't work in the pros nor does their control freak tendencies. You grab a professional players facemask and yank on it to get his attention and you may get your *** smacked by him.

What also doesn't work is you don't get 6-8 5* recruits each year to work with your lucky if your 1 maybe 2 first round draft picks pan out.

Dabo is a God in Clemson SC. and makes more than the majority of the pro coaches now.

He may one day take over for Saban( and he'd be stupid to do that IMO ) but I don't see any way he goes to the pros.
Dabo is a God at Clemson??...Well F....he should be...considering the $$$ funneling through the Church....

He wouldn’t know anything about how the bag game works would he?

We need a podcast.

Could you imagine Dabo talking to a locker room full of grown *** men the way he does his Clemson's teams?

They'd laugh him out the room & wouldn't listen to him for a second, his schtick wouldn't fly for one second in the league.

Take a look around in the NFL, very few goofy country bumpkins as HC's, his act would wear thin by the 2nd week of mini-camp, those dudes would tell him to STFU as soon as he went into one of his fake Southern Youth Pastor style speeches lol.
I thought the same thing about Carroll, but he's done well with the surfer dude attitude in Seattle. Even after Sherman crapped all over him to anyone who would listen

Every time I hear about one of these little napoleons going to the NFL and destroying the league, I think about the Keith Traylor and Nick Saban “Who the **** do you think you’re talking to?” story.

These little, little men are better off staying at those bag schools and continue to threaten and bully kids.

**** you, Nick

Did either of those guys win national titles as a HC before taking the Bama job?

Did either of those guys have to follow Saban?

I'm just pointing out that "alma mater" doesn't fix everything, it doesn't mean the fans love you forever.
