D Money on STA safeties

I like both. My only thought is no one can leave from our safety room (besides Al Blades) this year unless they transfer out. James Williams, Kam Kinchens, Avantae Williams, Markieth Williams, and Brian Balom. That's 5 legit dudes who I would feel comfortable starting. So maybe they are skipping safeties this class unless they snag a real blue chipper like the guys they were after (Bonsu, Aguero, etc.).

My take tho is you can never have enough good football players. And Mack and Hussey deserve to be recruited at the very least.

I like Conrad Hussey as a possible cb candidate.

Im always in the position now to like what Randy did which was try all dbs at CB early in camps when they come in

Since we don't seem to be recruiting any other safeties (Webb?) , I have to think we're recruiting him as a safety?

I mean we have a few names for the 2nd or even third CB in this class, with Stafford already on board...

But I'm all for just recruiting/landing Hussey and Joseph and looking at them both as corners or safeties obviously.

Same can almost be said at CB as well. We have Couch, Porter, Curtis, Jaden Davis, Graves, Dunson, and Rogers all returning. Stafford is already locked in. I think we are at the point where we want 1 more high level recruit in this class, if we can get another big name like McClain, etc. we take them too.

I havent been blown away by either one thus far this year. And @Ziggy brings up a good point, with 5 legit safeties coming back next year and maybe even 2 more years..do either take a spot on the 2 deep if they come in next year? I think not. Many on here, including me, think Balom is being way too patient and should probably transfer because he would be starter material in most lower P5 programs. But to the original point, I see why Mario is playing it passive with both.

I like them both but we are going after Hussey harder.

It makes sense that Penn State is on them because they prioritize verified speed.
No team has more athletic testing numbers than Penn State players. They don’t just prioritize verified speed, they also prioritize athletic movers that they believe they can unlock even more functional athleticism.

It’s honestly impressive what they do from that standpoint.

Any article that elaborates on this more?

From their S & C producing some of the most athletic testers in Combine history over the past 5-7 years.
Have you ever watched a Penn St game? Find me a human in the country that watches them and says "Wow they sure are fast! Or Wow they sure are athletic!". Unfortunately I live two hours away from them and have for 37/43 years. I'm going on record to say those words have never been uttered. A few combo freaks doesn't mean they have a roster full that they recruited.

I meant the narrative that they are suddenly some roster full of athletic freaks because that's what they're known for recruiting.
Oh for sure. I definitely don’t watch them and say dam they fast. It’s a good athletic roster but not as good as taint Georgia bama. Maybe Michigan level

can't that just mean they train hard just for combine type skills?? their version of green tree all-Americans... they are combine all-Americans..
