Thats every team tho, before last season the coaches had to ask Mesi and bain to be more of leaders.. Mesi talked openly before the season how that wasnt really his role before and it wasnt natural for him but he had to step up.. He talked about meeting with guys and bringing people along, about changing the narrative and wearing I thing the enough shirts..

Having guys like Fletcher, Moten, Toure, and I am sure many others its their time, whether they want to or not, they have to step up and be the guy..

Guys like Scott and Thomas, Idk how you luck into that.. lol.. Especially Scott.. Those dudes were just locked in..

For some reason Im not worried about defense or dline barring injury.. More about guys on Oline.. We were self proclaimed playmaking oline last year.. How you replace Anez and Cici? We didnt ever have to worry about them, stalwarts for multiple seasons.. Is matthews gonna be that guy? Biggest question mark on team to me

I’m not concerned it’s just a question but we’ve got the right leadership and coaching in place so it’s gonna work out

I mean if you talk to fans of other programs they’re pretty much all worried about OL and DL as well

We’ve certainly had our fair share of absolute freaks at Miami. **** Calais is still balling in the league

We’ve had crazy pass rushing freaks. We’ve had elite run stoppers

But both? Pretty rare. And two of them on the same line?? It was historic. People got way too hung up on sack numbers with these guys.

I go back to the first 3rd down against OSU. Everyone in the building knew you had to get hands on 3 and 4 to give Sayin time. OSU was a great team with good coaching to come up with a plan.

Sayin got sacked by both of them in about .001 seconds. These dudes were just different

JHall, just maybe we gotta give some credit to coaching. Not a coincidence. JT is a very good coach and his cred has massive influence. Not diminishing the talent of these guys. But their skill set was coached. Let’s see how this plays out with the next Gen. Could be on to something here. And any D line recruit that doesn’t recognize, well they can’t recognize. Who played next to JB? Sapp(I think Pat Riley)? Cortez? Russ? I know there were some good dudes like Riley, Swamp Thing Jones, Mark Caesar, etc.

But there is a great chance that this can be the best DT duo in school history. If Moten and Scott make 1st Team All-American and are the first 2 DT's off the board next draft, I'd be the Least Shocked Man on the Planet. Last year, proved they're the best we've had in over 20 years. This year is gonna be a ******' nightmare for IOL they line up across from.

I also think they're gonna make life so easy for our edges, especially on run downs. I don't think we're gonna see as severe of a step back from the Edges in run support as we would without the Thanos Twins.

Lastly, Bain & Mesidor are gone, true, but people out here acting like we're replacing them with mid. They're the best Edges against the run that the college game has seen in a while, and they were on the same team. But guess what? No other team in America had anything like them and ain't returning anything like them! That's not coming back around until we bring it back. Also, don't act like we can't kick Mondo & Davis outside in obvious run situations.

I think people are severely underestimating Wilson especially, and Quise. I don't know jit or anything, but if he's had his ear to the street to hear the doubt of how well he'll play the run this season, Wilson has to be highly motivated to make some folks eat their words. Think about that, an extra chip on the shoulder of a dude who prolly could've came out this year and combined his to Day 1. Scary stuff, man.

Lightfoot, yeah, we all know his strengths and weaknesses. IDGAF, Trained-To-Go Killer. Numbers are gonna up with the snap increase. We'll see the best #12 we've seen. I also think Booker Jr. gonna make a splash, and a youngin or 2 will emerge like always. I ain't even mention Lowe, he's gravy.

Lucas and OJ, Scott and Moten. Those 4 are gonna make each other alot of money, if they are elite then the floor of the defense is very high
