The culture problem has permeated multiple HCs, ADs and Presidents. Sometimes I think the S. Fl culture of believing your own press is inescapable.

How many of us are old enough to recall the culture problem under Coker, as Shannon “changed” the culture starting by removing the names of the back of the jersey to promote unity vs. individuality?

How many of us are old enough to recall the culture problem under Shannon, as Golden “changed” the culture by promoting We-Fense, & community activities?

How many of us are old enough to recall the culture problem under Golden, as Richt “changed” the culture by having student athletes answer yes sir, reply no sir, inserting mat drills, & more community service?

How many of us are old enough to recall the culture problem under Richt, as Manny “changed” the culture by establishing TNM which was supposed to be TOM (The Old Miami). Remember how certain posters were applauding & praising his antics, including crashing FSU’s Nike coaching clinic?

It seems like every new coach inherits a culture problem here, then become apart of the culture problem. I rather wait & see although my gut tells me this should finally put an end to our misery this yr.

You're supposed to just play along. Culture is one of those buzz words that gets the people going.

I'm mostly with you. The only memorable thing Coker did was ban guns after Pata. Also didn't "throw players under the bus" after fiu. No control at all.

Randy Shannon is probably the single most dysfunctional coach we've had this century. All of his culture ideas were stupid and they all backfired. Including with the other coaches.

CMR was the man. I really think it was the Parkinson's that caught up with him.

Culture is one of the most overblown talking points. These days most coaches at this level are okay. It's really notable when they are not.

If we pull out a win in the swamp that’s step number one in the right direction-

Florida is very hard to beat game one at home-

There’s no doubt we have the goods to do it we have to execute it.

I know this has been discussed for years, but I think that the situation was worse than we know. From what I heard there were years where a lot of the players were more interested in partying, ladies, smoking etc.

I really feel the difference in year 3 of Cristobal. Seems like the players they are bringing in are guys that love Football and love the grind. We need players who care about football, the team and winning more than anything else.

From what I've observed and heard from insiders, the players are all in on football. Coming in early and leaving late, organizing team work on their own, watching film etc.

The first 2 years have been disappointing, but I think that this is the year where he has "his guys" leading the team. I believe we will see the difference week 1 in the swamp.
Will believe it when I see it.

It was much worse than commonly known. The job that Mario has done turning that locker room around and laying the foundation has been truly remarkable.

Now he has to take the next step and win with this rooster and we all know what that entails.

I was thinking about this earlier. Most of this staff are guys that are intense and played at a high level. It would be much easier to slack off when your coach is a 5’5” lispy fanboy that’s never played. Not to mention guys like Banda, Patke, and Baker. Nicholson is the complete opposite of Patke, Baker, and Diaz. Mario focusing on guys that love football matters too.

Let's revisit after some games have been played.
That's the problem is y'all think one has to do directly with the other. This is a fact what he brought up. The culture here has been ****ed since year 3 of Larry Coker. Only person who prioritized football players and leaders, not just athletes was cmr. He wasn't here for long enough to change the narrative & he wasn't hands on enough (in all likelihood due to what @The Franchise, myself and numerous others discussed that it was clear there was early signs of dimentia years before it was announced)with the defensive side of the ball to insist it was his vision we were putting on the field. We haven't had a clear vision for the program who could purge the nonsense since Butch. That's a fact that doesn't have anything to do with results on the field.

That's as irrelevant as stopping the run for a DL in a Manny Diaz defense...

It's Mario's Year 3 in the 2024 college football landscape. With the current NIL budget, lax transfer rules, and no ICs for HS kids, any of the handful of "Manny guys" remaining are now Mario guys. If he didn't want them, they should be gone and recruited over by now.

Just win.
If they didn't adapt they wouldn't still be here. The rest have been forced out. Very few of the kids who left went on their own

No, actually, the problem is people want to make definitive statements before the work is done. If 8-5 is the W/L record in December, we won't be discussing culture. As @Rellyrell illustrated, we've heard this song and dance before.
