Cristolbal. Gattis, Steele Weekly Pressers

The problem here is, Mario had Taggart while Mario was OC. Mario had Marcus Arroyo as OC. Now with Gattis there seems to be this Golden like assumption that the players need to conform rather than adjust to the locker room talent.

Ponce should be dialing up schemes to get over this hump, not Gattis.

So when Gattis eventually gets his personnel in place… we can look forward to a ground and pound, Stone Age offense?

No thanks.
This is what worries me more than anything. If things improve just enough so that the excuse makers prevail, AND we improve the talent, we'll never get rid of his offensive mindset. Earlier someone mentioned that he could see the possibility that Gattis "can work out here." To me, "work out" sounds far down the ladder from optimized and thriving at the cutting edge of offense.

Nice time to adapt your offense to fit your offensive personal 6 games into a season.
Yeah, I thought coaches normally used spring practice for that evaluating talent and adjusting thing. But then there are people who would wait to board up their house until after the hurricane blows down the first tree. And there's Gattis, out with his hammer in the wind and knee-deep water letting everyone know he's always had it under control.

Worse offense Canes or Broncos?

Both are my teams 😕

Also think we need to settle down with the "fixed the offense" talk. I'm glad TVD is looking much better and the offense is moving the ball (which is an improvement over what we saw earlier) but we still only scored 20 points against VT. The same VT that Old Dominion scored 20 points against and the lowest point total of the year allowed by their defense so far.

Until all those yards start turning into points, it doesn't mean much.

So credit to Gattis for making adjustments, even if he doesn't want to admit it. But lots of work to do still.

Ohhhh how you guys quickly forget the stubborn ******** like Manny, richt on offense, golden, nodonfrio, and lashlee vs a team with a pulse and in the run game.

Gattis' actually the first ****** to make such big change. And he did in in less than 4 games.

Not saying he's some savant, but he ain't stubborn.
This honestly is true. I know gattis is the whipping boy right now but he did make changes. Plus his personal position group is gutted

Formations, splits, vertical routes, pace, volume of passes, etc. all look identical to earlier in the season.

1st play against VT:

He must really think this fanbase is dumb as **** lol. It’s very easy to see and on top of that theres a reason I said expect changes in the “keys to the Unc game“ thread. It wasn’t exactly a secret.

I believe there is a misconception of his offense. It is supposed to be balanced with a little heavy to the run. Start of season we couldn't catch the ball so he adjusted. Now we can't run the ball so he adjusted. Wether it's injuries or personnel he has made adjustments. Not saying I'm a fan of this offense but I can't make a valid judgement on his abilities until he has a healthy offense. You absolutely have to run the ball successfully to win every week. There will be some games that need to be aired out to stay in it but for the most part a running game is crucial to long to term success or we could just become the next Texas tech bc the have sooooo many titles.

Ultimately I don’t honestly care what he tells the fans. I don’t think he needs to explain anything to us

As long as we see it on the field then that’s all I care about

He doesn’t need to at all, and it’s the least of our worries, but why lie? Putting it all on the players executing? Just a weird approach. They know he’s full of ****, we know he’s full of ****. What’s the point

Not making excuses by any stretch, but my take is he’s saying the plays were already in the playbook, he’s just had to adjust his play calling based on available personnel. More passing because we can’t run it and obviously calling plays TVD is more comfortable with.

I agree. Like I said in my first response, it’s just seems like a weird arrogance

But I have no idea. I don’t listen to anything he says anyway

I hear you, and that's the idea i got at first but he knows why the question was asked. They're asking if he changed anything to lead to the more efficient offense, and he danced around it.

Either way its moot. It's one thing to stay rigid in your approach and blame the players. He changed the offense, that's a fact, and that's really all that matters. Just weird imo

I agree. Why not just admit it and look like a genius instead of denying it and looking like a doofus.

here what go? you want to argue theyre running the same offense since week 1? go ahead and make the argument.
Too tough to make that argument, but do we have as many dropped passes as week 1 or 2? I dont think so

Has TVD been more on target since week 1 or 2...I DO think so.

No I did not go back and compare stat for stat

I will give Gattis credit for adapting these last few weeks. Everytime I listen to one of his interviews I want to german suplex him for thinking any of us are that dumb. Never met the guy but I can assume he sucks to talk to. Smug Chip Kelly smartest in the room type.

I'll volunteer to pose as Susan and actually call him out on his BS. Just need someone to kidnap her. Any takers?
