This is based off Cristobal & Napier's inherited/1st year Blue Chip Ratio through current talent levels.

Thoughts Anyone?

I guess the pushback is should UM expect to recruit better than even PSU? Because that seems to be who we are closest to. Given our lack of winning.

the blue chip ratio isnt as high as I thought it should be given the coach we hired.

I guess part of it is also us cutting ties with numerous high star kids after a year?

sorry I mixed up muschamp and Mullen. youre right.

yes he was known as a guy who hated recruiting but he was still pretty good at it and got wins there (34-15 in his time there meanwhile were caping for 22-16 here for Mario?)
All good.

And my comment didn’t really have anything to do with Mario. Mullen was a **** good offensive coach even if he wasn’t a good recruiter. Just funny that Florida fired him and brought in a guy who isn’t producing better recruiting results while also being a worse coach.

shark ****** was the coach they fired.

mullen was a good recruiter for UF

Dan Mullen was a subpar recruiter, that's why they fired him.

2018 was his first class just after he was hired, and it was 14th, but he only had a couple weeks to compile it.

2019 was his first true class, it was 9th.
2020 was 8th
2021 was a little weird with Covid, but it was 12th (Miami and Manny was #11)
He was fired in late 2021, and the class he was working on/that Napier inherited was ranked #18

Those aren't completely atrocious results, but for one, he openly discussed how apathetic he was towards recruiting, which didn't do him any favors.

And for two, the gators were spoiled and used to classes that would push Top 5 or Top 3, and recruiting around 10th was unacceptable to them. So they fired him.

I think at the time, Napier with his success at UL, was THE guy that was up and coming. obviously its proven false so far in recruiting and on field (but I will say recruiting kinda turned upside down even on us as its more NIL focused than if your coach is a good car salesman or not).

Mullen tried his hardest to get any other job in the NFL that he could to get out of recruiting.

he def hated it but given how much he hated it, he wasnt bad at it. I mean they were pushing basically what we've done on average here under Mario.

yes he wasnt champ and urban recruiting wise though which is the standard that was set and zook as well

64% is actually the same percentage as Cristobal’s 4 classes here, so the transfers out seem to be a net-zero in terms of their impact on the number.

Was curious what this looked like year over year. Some rough years in the early 2010s. Richt’s classes were lower than I expected outside of 2018.

I’m also not completely clear on 247’s methodology for transfers. It seems like they’re left completely out of the numbers but I’m not positive that they aren’t included, just using player’s high school rankings instead of transfer ranking.
