At Oregon Mario was 7-0 following regular season bye weeks. So far at Miami he's 0-2 after bye weeks (UNC in 2022 and the GT debacle last year.)

Interesting. Outside of a freakish anamoly only 1 clear cut loss bodes well. I have total confidence in the O but Guidry has to make adjustments vs a coach who embarrassed him last year in Brohm. Just bend more than break and we likely win with style.

I think every year situation is unique. Last year I wish we didn’t have a bye because we had momentum and we looked way different after the bye against GT. This year I think we need it and it will be good for us

Bye week is less about Xs and Os and motivation and keeping everyone focused.

The 7-0 explains that at Oregon. Think 0-2 can be best attributed to the players. We know what we had here.

0-2 when you have to try and scheme your way out of talent gaps at major positions.

Certainly no correlation to the one win coming when you couldn't leave your dorm/apartment/house.

I'm not worried about bye week **** in the least. We've played 6 consecutive weekends, 3 of them being on the road. It's all about getting rest and being healthy.

I'm just sick and tired of fans and opposing fans saying this. For the record, Mario is NOT and has NEVER been an OC. or DC. So, he's not the one being "out-schemed" with Xs and Os.

All that man coverage Guidry plays is on Guidry NOT Mario. Mario leaves Guidry to his own devices. Cal schemed up plays that confused and caused mismatches in the defense. We had our LBs trying to cover speedy scatback RBs which is a personnel issue for Guidry to solve. For the past 3 games, we have the opposing slot WRs have career games against a safety where any slot WR is going to win 9/10 against a safety. Even when we lined up with a corner on the slot, Cal schemed to play to force the safety into 1 vs 1 coverage on the slot. We got a mismatch, a bust in coverage, or both. That is on Guidry playing too much man when the personnel is limited. I was screaming at the tv for Guidry to just play zone to not give up big plays. Force Cal to beat us matriculating the ball, which they could not beat us in that type of game. Cal had no run game against us either. These things had nothing to do with Mario.

Yeah we don’t seem to have the speed in the back of the defense to play as much man coverage as we do. We all like aggressive, but with our offense, all we need to do is force FG attempts.

The defense really has 1 job this season. Hold teams under 30 points. Do that every week and UM may not lose a game.
