Serious question about Mario and the Ducks

Oregon obviously knows the Canes are interested in Mario. Why have they not already offered him an extension to some amount of money that we can not match? Is it because:

1. He recently signed a new contract so another extension makes no sense
2. The buyout is so big they figure no one is touching it
3. Oregon is not certain they want to pay Mario $8-10 million per year based on performance
4. Mario has told them he isn’t seeking an extension (for a variety of reasons)
5. None of the above

I ask because the silence out of Oregon is deafening.

If any of you have had a sick elderly parent, its something that weighs heavily on you EVERY SINGLE DAY of your life.
When that sick elderly parent lives across the country, its even more stressful. As close as Mario and his mom are, I guarantee he's in bed every night thinking about how she's doing.

The Oregon fans talking about him moving her to Oregon after the season, like its the perfect answer, have no clue what that **** is like if they haven't done it. Moving an elderly parent across the country, away from their friends AND their doctor is a nightmare. It NEVER goes well because its not something they're doing by choice. She'll get lost on the way to the Dr. Odds are she'll say she doesn't like the new Dr anyway (even if she really does). She won't know anybody in Oregon, which will make it even worse.

Idk if it'll influence Mario one way or the other. But if he's flying across the country for a one day trip to see his sick mother, I'd say yeah, its a factor. A major one.

Maybe we interview him to please the masses temporarily, but it probably moves to Stoops and then Tom Herman.

**** no to Stoops.

People claim Mario botched Herbert's career at Oregon, which couldn't be further from the truth, while Stoops has never had a 3K yd. passer and has only had 3 60% passers in 9 years at KU.

Thanks, but no thanks.

And I'm not too fond of Herman's QB recruiting, although He gets the most out of whomever He decides to put behind Center.

No idea if he comes or not but It would be leaked that he has an extension coming if true. Same with Lane, first 10 win year in school history Ole miss would lock him down if he wanted to be there long term.

I view it as one of two potential reasons. 1) Mario has told Oregon that he's coming to Miami. 2) Mario has told Oregon that he's not coming to Miami. I don't see an in-between option. Everyone but Oregon has done some major leg work to protect their incumbent coaches.

Oregon probably takes the Miami buyout money and makes Urban an offer He can't refuse, if they haven't already.

There is talk on their 247 board that it is being worked on. One poster in particular claims to have a connection to someone directly involved.

Mario is not going to take our job or even entertain questions around it until Saturday at the earliest. He has a great relationship with Oregon and Phil Knight and will leave on the best of terms possible. That includes seeing out this P12 Championship.
He's a stand up dude and won't burn bridges. I had hoped he would just put Oregon in his rearview but he aint that kind of dude.

He automatically got an extension when they won 10 games . I think he’s locked in until 2027 so I don’t see why they would ? If anything Knight would probably be increasing his side contract he has with him , if that’s even accurate

I’m a Lane Kiffin type dude myself…..but I feel like we going to pull Mario. Like I feel it a lot….in my brain that’s what Miami is going to do after the PAC 12 game.

AD in place this week and Mario on Monday.

I hope he recruits here as well as you all expect.

I hope he’s learned from all of his stops. Many, myself included, question the game day calls from this man.

But honestly if we are truly stacking the roster with actual chips and some real players we would probably just out talent the ACC into a few Coastal and ACC titles.

We’ve always had the best or 2nd best roster in the ACC since we joined…but let’s be real. A lot of them dudes were jags.
If you know, you know

We also have not heard anything about Ole Miss giving an extension to Kiffin.
I could be proven wrong at any moment with news of a new contract, but I think it is more than interesting that UM’s purported top targets, Mario and Lane, have not been offered mega extensions.

I believe this but the lack of urgency on the Oregon part, thus far, is fascinating and not being discussed on our end.

all true. could mean something. or nothing. who knows at this point.

also to note, there are a group of people who are close to Mario in a way that they would know what he is thinking, that he trusts to keep their mouths shut:

his agent, his mom, his wife, his brother, his closest confidante on the Oregon staff, Alex Mirabal, three close friends of his in Miami, (one of whom is a good friend of mine, and NO, I DO NOT have any inside info).

unless someone has directly spoken with Mario, or one of that group, they have zero accurate info and likely no clue what they are talking about.
