Cristobal interview on First Take

Can't be overstated how important it is to have a "face" to your program. A guy you can send into a recruits parents living room and he owns it. A guy that can think on his feet and portray confidence and competence when given some airtime on national TV.

For the first time in 2 decades, this program is presentable.
Man that alone feels great. The recruiting is amazing but just having legit competence feels right.

To be fair to Richt he brought some of that as well but just wasn’t in his prime any longer. It feels good now and if we beat A&M I’m not going to be a fun person to be around.

Georgia's version of Mark Richt was 100% that.

The one-foot-out-the-door-on-the-way-to-retirement version of Richt we got.....not so much. I love the man. I'll never forget how honorable he was towards the end of his time here. He could have held this program hostage in regards to his buyout and he didn't. He's a man's man in every sense of the word.

But I hated his hire here the moment it was announced. I'm sure someone can drag out those threads from the archive on the night that hire was announced. I was not onboard with the Richt hire from day 1. I knew it wasn't going to end well given the version of Richt that existed those last couple of seasons at Georgia. I likewise lost my mind the day Manny was hired....it was also well documented on this board the night it was announced.

This one, however, is different. I was really happy when we passed on Mario a few years ago because I felt he needed to go get big time experience at a major program before he came here. I always felt the pressure upon his eventual return was going to be huge and he needed that experience to fall back on. Well, it all went according to plan. Mario learned the ropes at Bama and then Oregon and as a result we are now getting a SEASONED guy . A guy who has already made some mistakes (all coaches do) but has ALREADY learned from them.

Given how incompetent and apathetic this program has been for over two decades....I'm still in shock we are currently where we are. We 100% deserve it as a fanbase given the **** sandwich we've been handed by both the NCAA and our own incompetent/apathetic leadership over the years. I guess I'm just at a place now where I appreciate the spot we're in a lot more than I would have 10 years ago.

Can't wait for the season to start. Can't wait to watch the trajectory of this program manifest itself on the field.

You ain’t wrong and I aint here to pretend Richt was some great hire given what he did with his son. But vs the Al, Randy and Manny incompetence, he wasn’t that.

His 16/17 run was the best this has felt pre-Mario in 15 years and I’m not going to pretend it didn’t happen.

It happened, but it was a temporary moment that was never sustainable and was artifically propped up by a favorable schedule. That run was all about the ND and VT wins....and now looking back with a clear head it was clear we beat two teams that didn't have a quarterback. Richt was in the right place at the right time for that run.

This time is going to feel a **** of a lot better and a **** of a lot more sustainable. This is being built the right way...with a COMPETENT up and coming young coach and solid talent acquistion via recruiting. Even in the height of that small Richt run we NEVER had those two aspects accounted for.

Post of the month (if not more).

So many "other team players" state they were "wannabe Canes" back in the day.... We were THE team.
College Football GIF by Miami Hurricanes

All of them dreamed of the smoke, running through it vicariously, but looking back with Mario........out come the stories of what "could" have been.....
Miami will become the "IT" team once again.........Mario has them headed that way.
Ahhh man can't wait for the beasts to come out the smoke. All the five stars in the future can't fuqin wait. The minute those monsters come out the smoke it's game over. Bruh in three to four years man there are going to be first rounders everywhere.

I may be in the minority but I want them to go back to simple. Smoke, players through the smoke. Get rid of all the other stuff. Spend the money on more smoke!

I believe Richt brought that “fire” + Smoke & that came from UGA. I agree w/ u.

I’d like to add a narrated intro vid! Not just random highlights over music. Tell a story. Highlights of Mario’s intro presser with him mic’s up during pre season practice.

Haha no argument from me. This is WAY better
