Crazy thought but what if...

It does take time. It worked for both Bama and Clemson. NEITHER of them set the world on fire the first couple of years. Alabama lost to freaking Louisiana Monroe in year one of Saban's tyrannical rule.

I agree, we could have and should have won both games. However, a winning culture does take time. I'm sick that we lost, but I'm not a fool that expected 12-0. It's not like flipping a switch.
We are on the same page, talking the same language

I don’t think anyone expected a switch to be flipped.

Truth be told, all we can do is critique each game at a time and then review at seasons end. Plenty of time to improve and play Clemson. The 2018 Gators are a prime example

Exactly. One game at a time. One growing pain at a time. Here's hoping for some growth spurts.

You can’t just blindly chalk these two losses up to “oh well, it takes time”

That works against Clemson but not a top 25 overhyped Florida team and a rebuilding UNC team

We collectively found ways to lose both games. I somewhat agree with Manny that this team needs to learn to win, but with the amount of hype Manny drummed up and with the on paper talent, they better learn quick, because with this schedule, he already used up one of his mulligans
Why are you complaining about the Hype Manny drummed up? I mean talk about some stupid **** to be complaining about. You mean the head coached of a team hyped his team up? Why the travesty of that dude, the nerve

We aren't trash. I just expected more after all the offseason talk. He over promised and under delivered. That is NOT what you want to do. Yes, we should all expect it to take a little time with a new coaching staff, new QB, new LT, etc. However, when you are sold a shiny "NEW MIAMI" and are handed an 0-2 turdburger, it's kind of hard to take with a smile.
What did he promise?

Didn't UNC also have 27 players in their two deep go down last season

They had a slew of injuries. And don't forget "Sneakergate". something like 6 of their starters were suspended for that and didn't play against us. The team we faced on Saturday was not even close to the team we whipped last year. Add in a coach who has brought some emotion back to the locker room and a new QB who can play. Miami fans totally underestimated this game

You guys did watch the game right? You do realize that UNC was on the other sideline? The one with the new coach and they just beat South Carolina and Miami to start the season?

You saw that right?

It was Mack Brown, a national championship winning coach, and he had a roster that could compete right away. Why the **** do you think he decided to come back to coaching?

I still don’t understand how people forget that this ENTIRE defensive staff is NOT NEW!!! For ***** sake.

They were the ones that got throttled for 17 points in the 1st quarter by a freshman QB...with two weeks to prepare!!

They were also the ones that gave up a 4th and ******* 17!

I’m not hitting the panic button (yet), but stop saying this is a new staff. Last I checked the “new offense” put up 500 yards last game.

Lol so many want to gloss over the fact that North Carolina returned a much more experienced team than we did. We replaced almost the entire secondary. We have no depth at linebacker and we have two new starters on the dline and dline depth has also limited experience

I won't comment on the offense because that is even worse. It's easier to rebuild at UNC when you have experience. It happens all the **** time.

I agree that the defense is going to take another season to get back to being at an elite level. But my expectations was on the side of the offense... I thought they would be able to put up more points bc of all the skill position talent across the board. I was thinking this offense was going to create a lot of big plays consistently and put up somewhere around 35 - 45 points a game. All this talk about “pre snap motions” and it being night and day to Coach Richts offense but the output is about the same.

In the 18 years since Miami won their last championship, only 8 coaches have one. And three of those coaches were carried by a great collegiate QB (Newton, Young, Winston). Miami was lucky and grateful to have Jimmy Johnson, and later Butch Davis follow Schnellenberger. There aint but one Urban Meyer or one Nick Saban; and they ain't walking that door to make us perennial contenders in year one. Quit living in the past and realize we're going to have to do it the hard way, the long way, and hire/fire coaches like every other program and hope one sticks.

We're due for some luck, thats all we can hope.

Manny had them overachieving. Losing above average players like Willis, Jaquan, Jackson, Redwine etc left holes these young guys cant fill yet...
