Craig Kuligowski

Interesting. How's he as a recruiter? Obviously has a proven track record of development. Would love to see what he could do with Miami caliber talent at DL.

Negged for bringing up recruiting for a guy who has put out a dozen NFL lineman

Condisering that south Florida isn't producing too many DTs recently, we will need someone who can convince SEC fat bodies to come down here.

Except you are wrong and that's not how this guy operates anyway.

Aldon Smith was a 3 star DE/TE.
Michael Sam was a 2 star DE/OT.
Shane Ray was a 3 star and a track athlete.
Ziggy Hood was a 3 star and a track athlete.

Point being, this guy is a true coach who scouts and develops talented dudes. He's not some Trob or Corley style "recruiter" who chases 5 stars. He's the IDEAL Hurricanes DL coach.

Hire him as DL/Co-DC like the Randy Shannon position. Or associate HC. Give him a huge raise and a title and watch the instant savagery.

Odom also confirmed that defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski wouldn’t return next season.

“Craig’s done an unbelievable job and I’ve said a number of times that (he’s one of), if he’s not, the best D line coach in the country,” Odom said. “He’ll be a coordinator and will be very successful wherever he ends up.

How would you feel if he was our DC? Though judging by his follows (only DLine) maybe we are actually following thru with this paying assistants thing and are bringing in one of the best DLine coaches in the country.

Would want him to be DC, but it doesn't look like anyone else is jumping on him as a DC. So he might be willing to come here as DL coach if we slap a giant bag of cash in his face and give him a shiny title.

One could always make him co-DC/DT coach and have an assistant DL coach working under him as they do at other places.
Just have another grey beard on that side of the ball to assist with DC duties.
There are way to get him if he wants to come.
Just get his **** to Coral Gables.

Could be an ideal situation to have a guy like Kareem Brown be Kuligowski's assistant DL coach and stay glued to his side. We'd be situating him to be the next DL coach. If you need to make Kuligowski co-DC then do it. But just hire a proven guy to be the real DC.

I am down with that.
If it is true that UM is willing to spend bucks to get coaches, then do what alot of elite programs do and have several co-coordinators
and assistant head coaches on staff.
That takes money, but it is worth it, especially on defensive side of ball where most of attention is needed with this program.

the new DC will find a DL Coach. this board has been 100% wrong on everything so far. Richt got this.

Not always the case with DL coaches.
The great DL coaches have been known to be kept on staffs throughout various HC and DC changes.
This has been true at the college and pro level.

A front 4 of AQM, Moten, Willis, and Thomas is talented. Would figure he could get those guys to ball. Still need to fix the depth particularly at DT. DE was recruited much better than DT over the last few years.

Chad & Harris
Willis & Moten
Jenkins & Norton
AQM & DJack

Solid 2 deep right there. Any legit DL coach can make that a savage group.

Like kuligowski?

Anyone know why Odom wouldn't retain this guy if he's one of the best in the nation

Started following Joe Jackson and Bethel. And a bunch of the same targets on the DLine that we've heard since Richt joined

Guess it could mean nothing, but if not :monkey-serious:

Edit: also following Aranda

yeah noticed that the other night, thought it would be of little meaning although I did find it interesting alot of the same targets Richt recently followed were all the same, seemed like it was all fitting a little too well together lol

would cream my shorts over kuligowski/aranda hire.
