Couple Thoughts

I hear a lot about Brad Kaaya being a freshman and making mistakes. I guess my thought is he beat out a 5th year senior, redshirt Freshman, and a Sophomore in Crow who moved positions and another true Freshman. All of these guys were pretty good recruits including Heaps and Olsen who were 4 star elite 11 recruits. If Kaaya is better than those guys which I know DMoney and Pete think so than we have some serious issues with play calling and development.

We beat FAMU because we were bigger, faster, stronger and more athletic. Their coaches and players executed better than ours and this seems to happen every game.

As a head coach Golden either needs to be a big time recruiter or an X's and O's guys and he is neither. Golden has hired a staff full of recruiters to cover for his short comings and thus we are left with no one that can coach and develop players.

My last thought...

4 years later we are bigger, stronger, and more talented in many spots but we still look like we have no ******* clue what is going on or where we are supposed to go.

Theres only one explanation.

just to add but I've never seen a football teams that plays on it's heels on both sides of the ball. Never.

That's exactly how I felt last night. We won because we had the better athletes, etc. We demonstrated nothing new last night (aside from ditching that stupid frog stance on defense) that makes me believe we will have any success this season. Golden still didn't have a good game plan, offensive line was still terrible, still too many stupid mistakes and poor calls.

Long season ahead, and the only hope is for change next year. We've seen that isn't happening with Golden, so we have to hope he's gone, and he takes that terrible "we don't have the team to just run through FAMU" attitude with him to whatever hole he crawls in.

That's what I said earlier, Andrew. It's ok if the CEO is a recruiter, but you have to have a balanced staff.

As I mentioned earlier, if you look at staff composition, the large majority are recruiters,a few are handjobs to some interest group and the remainder are friends of the HC and/or people he is comfortable with. That's it. They can all fit into one of those three categories. None of them are primarily technical experts. The pendulum is swung way too much in the direction of recruiting and marketing and not enough in terms of teaching.

So as a result, in most games where we do not have a huge talent advantage we are going to get beat because the opposing staff is likely to have at least some decent actual coaches who are good at Xs and Os.

Look at the staff and again you will see they all fit into those categories:

Coley- Recruiting
Scott- Recruiting (but not bad as a coach)
Ice- Handjob to the local community and also recruiting
Art- Handjob to alums/fans who want some connection to the glory years.....basically another cheap Godlen PR trick
Carroll- Recruiting (out of state)
Dorito- HCs friend/comfortable around him/nepotism
Uncle Jeffro- See above.
Williams- See above.
Hurlie- Recruiting.

There you have it.

Practice and games are two different things. He showed potential in practice and beat those dudes out. It will take a few games for him to acclimate to game speed and for his skill to translate. It is early to judge him because he is in the transiton phase. I think his talent will start to really show as he gets more comfortable out there.

Honestly for me it has pretty much nothing to do with Kaaya. Not that he gets a pass or whatever you want to call it but my utter disgust with this team has everything to do with preparation and gameplan. They just look like an unprepared football team and the constant reactive philosophy on both sides just ****es me off. If Fisch was our OC I think the team would look better even if Kaaya still made mistakes. Our defense only looks better because it's much much more talented on the line. Other than that we have a coaching staff that's completely in over their heads and our team shows it. Has nothing to do with Kaaya for me in general.

"Their coaches and players executed better than ours and this seems to happen every game."

Judging the frequency of technical issues this site seems to have, this moronic statement from an administrator comes as no surprise.

man i never noticed how lazy of a blocker feliciano is. could of made an effort to block on the big herb waters play that probably would have resulted in a touchdown. also literally didn't block anyone on that duke td.

What exactly did FAMU execute better last night? Were you wowed by their play design? Imaginative play calling? You can't say special teams because their kicker missed a kick and their punter stinks and so do their return units. What did you see last night from FAMU?

Surprised you unlatched your white-knuckle grip on Golden's ******* long enough to slap this *** post into your keyboard.

I was willing to give him a chance this season. He lost me after the Louisville game. The coaching is pathetic and our players deserve more.

Deserve victory my ***, how about deserve coaching.

this!!!!! I knew the end was near when he failed to fire his reach around buddy after last year. after monday he is dead to me

I cannot agree with you more, Andrew. We have no identity on either side of the ball. Blake James has to make that difficult call at the end of this year and replace both coordinators.
