Couple things on Adidas deal

The most shocking thing to me- why didn't we get any special stuff for our 100th season??? It almost seems like the school forgot about it. They didn't mention it until the day before the ND game with a short twitter video.

And adidas has a huge track record of honoring 100th seasons- Texas Tech got a special uniform for their centennial this year. They created 3 brand new uniforms for the NHL Bruins for their 100th. Very bizarre.

This is an excellent point.

I assure you (because I have been perusing the UM Bookstore both online and in-person), all of that U-100 stuff (as well as the colleges/schools stuff, like the Business School and Law School stuff) is made...NOT BY ADIDAS...but by some random apparel company that you've never heard of.

Go back to the ORIGINAL @Peter Ariz post on this thread...all the "special stuff" promised to us by adidas...WHICH WAS NEVER DELIVERED...

Why is this so hard to comprehend by the "adidas treats us like kings, Nike treated us like ****" crowd? Quite literally, adidas has NOT given us what they promised they would give us FOR TEN YEARS, either monetarily or in merchandise. Ten years of lies. But "oh, the last TWO years with Nike were a veritable hellscape", right?

Some of our fans seem to be in long-term abusive relationships where their wives beat them and humliate them every day. There is no other rational explanation.

Im not sure what's going on in the background. I know some people here have been saying we were almost sure to be leaving adidas to go back to Nike. Who knows what will happen.

If I was making the decision, and both offers from adidas and Nike were the same, I would choose Nike. If both offers were similar, but adidas was a bit better, I would still go woth Nike. But if adidas is offering a significantly better deal, you need to take that deal. Whether or not it really is significantly better, who knows. There are few people who will know the answer to that.

Im also not naive. I know one of the reasons adidas would be coming tonus would be to secure the deal in a contract year type deal. That said, I do believe adidas has significantly improved in the past couple of years. And not just woth Miami. Their football jerseys and gear seem to have improved overall, and I do think they have gotten their act together regarding football. That doesn't mean they didnt ***** us as well, and that their products were subpar for a majority of the deal. Also, no more crazy long deals. Either way, this would be a good time for Miami to negotiate these deals, strike while the iron is hot.

Very fair post.

Here are a few interesting tidbits on the new deal...

**I'm told that Adidas has plans to make Miami the "Oregon" of their company. They will try a lot of new things with us, have a bunch of uniform combos stacked up for big games, and really try to push Miami into the forefront of their marketing campaign.

**People in the know hinted at the fact that Nike had become complacent with Miami. They weren't sending as much stuff as they had in the past and as a result, players would have to wear game-used materials. Schools like Florida State, Alabama, Clemson, etc. would get new shipments almost weekly. This did not sit well with Miami. (of course, money also plays a factor in this)

**As far as the designs go, I've heard Adidas will try to model the base uniforms after the 1980's. Mostly one color (orange, white, green) with the stripe around the sleeves.

**I have also heard of a black cleat concept with the eye of a hurricane popping out on the side of the shoe, which would look very cool.

Ultimately I still disagree with the switch, but it's one of those things that we would care less about if the state of the program was different. I also don't think it will "hurt" recruiting like some have suspected it will. Kids like new things, and Adidas will certainly be pushing to make Miami look different.
10 years later, how much of this **** actually became true?

I want the best possible deal for Miami. I also don't know exactly what that would look like. This doesn't have to get done tomorrow. Negotiate this with a big picture view, and do extensive research and interviewing in order to best discern whether promises can be met.
