Will this mean a change of mind with Greg Rousseau coming back for one more year
You guys realize Joe Burrow got picked first this year? Ahead of Tua Tagovailoa, who everyone and their mom had going number one. Burrow literally went from undrafted FA status to #1 overall pick with one great season. It's hardly a stretch to believe that a guy who has already had more success than Burrow did in his first 4 seasons to make a jump to the top of the list. Even if he doesn't surpass Lawrence or Fields, who else is head and shoulders better than him right now?
Time for an upgrade
Will this mean a change of mind with Greg Rousseau coming back for one more year....I’m asking a question?hummmmm
I would argue that he brings more value than Fields at the next level. Kick returner, WR skills, and a better 10 game stat Season than Fields as a QB. If he kills it in 2020 at Miami, I’m not sure Fields gets a better grade.
I doubt a pro team will draft him that high (e.g., first round) if they expect him to change positions to kick returner or WR.Tagovailoa only “fell” to 5th overall because of the hip injury. Otherwise he’s going first or second even with Burrow having the greatest statistical year ever.
King may be asked to change positions at the pro level. Yes, Kyler Murray exists. He is an exception, greater than two standard deviations from the mean. If Jalen Hurts was a 2nd rounder I think King’s realistic projection without Hurts’ measurables is 3rd round or lower.
It does as far as his eligibility. Don't forget, we're Miami. We've had people disqualified for less (remember Nate Webster).View attachment 128018
signing with an agent does it mean it’s a done deal@jeddTHEfisch
He ain’t going first round.I doubt a pro team will draft him that high (e.g., first round) if they expect him to change positions to kick returner or WR.
Had Russell Wilson had a season like that in more recent history, he’d have been drafted earlier. I mean the short QB stigma was still very much a thing when he entered the draft. And while I think Murray numbers might be a stretch for King, if healthy, he should far outpace his passing numbers at Houston. He’s never played with skill players near the level of guys he’s playing with at Miami. He was literally relied upon to do everything at Houston whereas he’ll have a lot more help here. It's not so much about who is better as it is that he'd be one of the 2-3 shortest QBs in the NFL. Things are changing a bit but GMs are still hesitant about short QBs. Unless he puts up Heisman-caliber numbers (which he is fully capable of) I think he is a 3rd round or later.
Look at Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray. In his one year at Wisconsin, Wilson's line was 33 TDs, 4 INTs, 3175 yards, 72.8% completion, 191.8 rating. He added about 400 yards and another 7 TDs on the ground. Even with those terrific stats, he went in the 3rd round.
Here's Kyler Murray's insane numbers: 42 TDs, 7 INTs, 4361 yards passing, 69% completion, 199.2 QB rating. Add 1001 yards and 12 TDs.
It's entirely possible that King can put up Murray numbers but I just don't think the rest of the team this year is good enough to get him there. Next year I believe it will be. If he "just" puts up Russell Wilson numbers this year, that's good enough to win a national championship. I don't know if it propels him into a top 5 pick though. I think he needs to put up Murray - like stats to overcome the bias against height and be a 1st round pick, which is much more likely next year than this year.
