Could the ACC apply pressure on Miami?

Since Miami joined the ACC, we've been in a constant downward spiral; and it appears we're still headed in that direction. When Miami joined the ACC, I'm sure it was because the conference wanted 'The U' (God rest its soul) and not this cheap imitation it has received all of these years. Is there any way the conference itself could "force" Miami's BOT/admin to make changes to benefit the football program? Or at least apply enough pressure so that the University feels the need to become relevant again as soon as possible? I'm pretty sure there is no real way, but I'm bored and just desperately reaching in any way possible to find a way to force some changes with our beloved program.

That is not want they wanted from us. They wanted high-profile games against FSU and NCs. Not to mention College World Series. They had basketball handled.

Trust me. The acc cares more about academics and basketball than they do football. With that said you are correct. We were brought in to help with football prestige. But as long as we aren't making the conference look bad they really don't care.

I think they have a minimum attendance but that might be their only out. They are known as a BBall conference and since we have come around as a decent BBall school and can win the ACC every once in awhile they will keep us around. Also we do add academic prestige outside of NC. Also The U is still a brand and they can market it. Will they replace us? Maybe, but not anytime soon I wouldn't think.

NO, we are a basketball school and the ACC is a basketball conference.

What they anticipated they'd get in football from the U, they got in basketball and baseball.

That's a good point OP. With only 4 teams in the playoff and 5 power conferences, it is extremely important that the ACC has a few TOP teams to garner National respect as a conference. There is a lot more money to be made under these conditions.

I really do see where it could become an issue, but not enough to force change, so I was just curious as to everyone's opinion on the matter. The other power 5 conference consistently have teams cycling in and out of the "playoff race". The PAC has Oregon, Stanford, and UCLA; The B1G has Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State; The BIG-12 has Oklahoma, TCU, and Baylor; The SEC has the entire West Division, along with Georgia in the East. Plus there are teams among those such as USC, Michigan, Texas, Florida, etc. that are always "relevant" and just one good move away from being in the mix in their respective conferences. The ACC has Florida State, and that's it. Clemson never lives up to their preseason ranking(s) and everyone else in the conference just beats up on each other. For the ACC it's Florida State or bust.

No. It's good for ACC teams to have a team they can kick the siht out of to improve their numbers.

We make everyone else look GOOOOOOD.
