Coming off a very good spring and now into his second fall camp, starting to hear some noise that Anthony Campbell has taken the next step. At 6-7 300, with a high motor and exceptional athleticism he has all of the physical tools to be dominate.

Look at him here. He is splitting double teams, chasing down receivers, and making plays in the backfield.

Potential DT Rotation
C.J. Clark RSR 6-3 305
Simeon Barrow RSR 6-3 290
Anthony Campbell RSR 6-7 300
Marley Cook RSR 6-2 298
Ahmad Moten RSO 6-3 325
Josh Horton RFR 6-4 295
Justin Scott FR 6-4 298

*Edge players who could also play inside*
Akheem Mesidor RJR 6-3 280
Rueben Bain SO 6-3 275

This will be an extremely deep (pause) and talented rotation. What a long way from playing Jake Lichtenstein, Antonio Moultrie, and Thomas Gore on the interior.

I have a hard time seeing him getting any meaningful snaps. He couldn't get on the field last year with a bunch of injuries on the DL. You have to think Scott takes the reps he possibly gets.

Good point. I am not sure if he did or not.

He was one of those guys I thought for sure he would transfer out and I was surprised he stayed. I know he has gotten a lot bigger. There was a video footage about a month with Campbell playing around with Cooper, Kinsler and I think McCoy and he was just as big as they were. Dude a truck. I think he was just red shirt but ur right we were down to no D linemen and he got no snaps

Every year there is one guy that gets hyped up on CIS based on practice observations and insider chatter. And every year that guy does not live up to expectations. There are plenty of players that do breakout but there’s always one overhyped player that never lives up to his billing.

Hoping for the best with Campbell because he certainly has the physical skills to be dominant but not getting my hopes up until I see him in action against UiF.

Coach Guidry talking about Anthony Campbell

Reporter said "Anthony Campbell, it seems like he might be pushing."

Coach response "He's starting to progress because we've had some defensive tackles that haven't gone yet, you know, which should be adding pretty soon. So he's been taking some reps. He's been flashing a little bit more than he has in the past, which is good. But I think he knows the defense now a little bit better. So he's been a good surprise for him."

He talked about being short 2 guys in the secondary (S/N). I don't understand why they weren't able to find those guys? Savion Riley wasn't a fit, fine. @Memnon was calling out guys in the portal who could have transferred in and provided the needed depth or even taken a starting spot.

I don’t understand why they acted so complacent in the portal if this is the case.
