Corners Are (For the Most Part) Atrocious

If it wasn't for Blades last name he wouldn't get half the love on here.

I watched him get beat inside on back-to-back plays tonight. (like he did a ton last year) At least on the second play he recovered and punched the ball out.
He also dropped a relatively easy INT on the deep ball. Glad to see he at least turned around for it though.

The FIRST THING you can't do in man coverage is get beat INSIDE yet ALL OF OUR CORNERS have struggled with this.
I don't know if it's Diaz or Rumph, but whoever's teaching this loose version of press coverage ("catch man") needs to fvckin' go. **** is garbage.
We get beat on slants by D1AA WR's.

Let these kids put their hands on WR's!
Blades should be an elite press Corner by now. He's long and built like a brick ****house.
He's being severely under-developed IMO.
You’re absolutely right Coach, god forbid we get physical at the line and bump receivers off their routes or put their hands on them in coverage...this 7 yards off the ball gimmick reminds me of D’Nofrio sadly enough.

@dsddcane is it Mike or Manny instructing how our DBs play man?

Our DB’s suck because our WR’s suck & vice versa. Iron sharpens iron they say. Well then is more like pillow softens pillow.

Macho, I noticed this, believe it or not(and not about Blades but our overall scheme) but the 2017 season the week after the Notre Dame blowout, we played a pretty mediocre UVA team and those slants killed us(Malek Young really struggled that game) and at that point, the secret was out.

And teams with any type of competence passing the ball are able to exploit that consistently. There is something very unsound about our current defense from a structural standpoint.

His name starts with an m. Lol u know that answer already brother. No one wants to hear my answer. What dc do u know of who doesn't play his defense his way?
hopefully Manny will allow Ed to help improve this defense

Hopefully they have Blades follow TuTu on the field and roll the safety over to help. None of our other CBs have a chance to cover him other than Blades and that’s questionable. Make someone else beat us.
