This is basically Manny's philosophy in a single stat. If he can find a way to combine that with tighter zones and less reliance on blitzing in 3rd down situations, we have ourselves a dominant defense capable of winning meaningful games.

If you look up the Manny Diaz Breakdown thread from when he was hired, I consistently mention the need for Safety range. We saw our Safeties a tick or two late on a number of throws this season. Between that and better depth by LBs, we should be able to make the improvement described above re: 3rd downs.
