Cook Surprised by Yearby flip

Something I've learned is that lying is very common in interviews.

So is fake insiderism.

Nothing fake about Pete. He's the guy actually on the phone with coaches, teammates, parents, barbers and the kids themselves. Everything he puts out is the result of his hard work.

Nobody is ever right all the time and no one should pretend to be, but Peter earned the respect he gets.

My comment wasn't directed at Pete. I don't consider Pete an insider or a fake insider. He's a dude who does good writeups and occasionally foolishly gets involved in the lunacy of guessing where a recruit will attend college. It was a general comment in response to his statement and the prevailing thought that it's the recruits who feed the misinformation monster. The fake insider loves to feed the beast.

These kids tell canes websites what they wanna hear...they're not dumb

Cook's brother is recruiting him hard to Miami. Cook told me his decision about coming to us depended on Sony's decision but Yearby's verbal now makes it more interesting

As in he wanted to play with Sony, or he was turned off by having to share the backfield with him?

Well if it is "I don't want to share a backfield" then that says something to me about the kid's make up. I am not saying he isn't a stud or going to be a great player, and I definitely want him, but I want my guys to have the Clinton Portis attitude of not giving a **** who else is there because there is no way they are better than me.

Well, Portis took it to another level but I agree.
Whenever I hear about recruits wanting to get more love from a school it raises a big red flag about entitlement.
Cook sounds like someone who is not a "Cane" at heart, and in his interview he has us 4th because the coaches are not recruiting him/showering him with adulation?
I'd take Yearby and be happy. Michel and Yearby would be fantastic, but right now we should all be very happy.

Cook seems destined to have one of those weird recruitments. Kid is a phenom but nothing feels right about it, at least right now.

kid is arrogant sounding and I do NOT like the cast of characters involved here: Clemp$on, U$C, BAMA...smfh

kid will get paid IMO

One of the reasons im cool with the Yearby commit...besides being a good player...one in the hand is worth two in the bush. This kid is no lock to Miami.

If this past recruiting class showed us anything, it's that these local kids are ******* flakes and highly susceptible to being influenced by their hack coaches, money, and other considerations that may drive them away from home. Some of the stuff being said about Cook makes me think he's another problem-child recruit for us. Nonetheless, if Yearby was a mediocre prospect, or even just a good one, I'd think this was a bad move at this point in time (before we have a more concrete picture as to Cook's preferences). But Yearby is far from that -- he's a top-50 national recruit and a top-5 RB in the country and a top-5 player in the state. These are the kids we salivate over, and that we've been missing in recent years. Sign him the **** up. If Cook or Sony think they're better, like a true Cane running back would, then they can come here and compete with him. If they're soft shouldered kids who want to avoid competition, they'll go elsewhere and that's fine -- we'll have a 5-star RB coming in Yearby and another complimentary back.

I dont think a school in the country would turn away Yearby.

We should be doing Cart wheels.

Michel going to UGA wouldn't be any less competition - they are loaded at running back

Cook going to Clemson wouldn't be a cake walk either to start right away

Both are spot on. This is a kid that forms a foundation for this class.

Dalvin Cook needs to be here. Would be ****ed to see him wind up in Tuscaloosa. Get him here, find aplace for him.

Don't they already have 15 runningbacks?

Yes, but Saban will find a way to off the 11 that don't pan out. He always does.

They just signed Henry, Tenpenny, Kamara, and Jones. Wouldn't be surprised to see two of them end up elsewhere.
