Cook Surprised by Yearby flip

Peter Ariz
2014 RB Dalvin Cook of Miami Central is arguably the top prospect in South Florida for the upcoming class. He also happens to be committed to Clemson, which is something that Miami is still working on changing.

“Miami is number four right now. It’s Clemson, Alabama, USC, and Miami,” said Cook.

In the past months when I’ve spoken to Cook, he made it clear that Miami was right up there with Clemson. What has changed?

“They just have to keep recruiting me. I talked to Coach Coley once at one of their junior days. I haven’t talked to the new running backs coach yet, though.”

This is where the twist comes in. I called Cook to get his reaction on teammate Joseph Yearby flipping to Miami today, and he didn't even know it had happened until I brought it up.

“What, really? I didn’t know that. When did that happen? Wow, that’s a big one. I’m just hearing that from you now.”

So just as he had named Miami as his number four school, it seems like Yearby’s commitment could positively affect Miami’s chances.

“That could affect my recruitment. We talk about playing with each other. It would just be special to a program to have both of us there. I’m going to talk to him more about it now.”

But yea I don't feel good about our chances.

Just give me Sony now and I am happy.

Cook seems destined to have one of those weird recruitments. Kid is a phenom but nothing feels right about it, at least right now.

Dalvin Cook needs to be here. Would be pissed to see him wind up in Tuscaloosa. Get him here, find aplace for him.

Im going to have a Costco sized bag of poporn ready for the rest of Cook's recruitment.

This may affect it for the worse. They really are not too fond of playing with one another and trust me I know!

I think it's gonna be like Alex Collins' recruitment. His heart probably tells him go to Miami, but outside factors will force him to go elsewhere for their own benefit.

Such a versatile athlete. He will come down to the wire IMO.
