Everyone understands the importance of recruiting. But what the recruiting geeks like Bluestain don't understand is that you don't recruit in a vacuum. There's no such thing as a recruiter who can recruit no matter how your team is doing on the field. It doesn't exist as Folden and Coley have clearly proven. 2 renowned recruiters who can't sign any hot recruits because everyone knew Folden was a loser and fraud.

You recruit in relation to the heat surrounding your program. You get heat around your program when: a. You make an initial hire and fans and recruits get hope of a turnaround; b. You WIN FOOTBALL GAMES. The "b" part of the recruiting success formula is the most important part because it's ongoing and long-lasting.

The "a" part works with any new HC at UM. You saw both Randy and Folden benefit from the "a" part, and I'm sure Beanerdict Arnold would too. The problem is the "b" prong. That's where UM has failed. No one can recruit anywhere when you are losing because your HC sucks. Beanerdict, like Randy and Folden, sucks.

If they get sucked into this mindset of only looking at someone with previous experience at Miami, am I the only one who thinks Schiano is the least smelliest **** in the bowl of him, Chud and Mario?

I guess. He's not some weirdo like Chud, and didn't fail as hard as Mario did at FIU.

We still are ****ed with Schiano at the helm.
 
Who's the bonehead pitching the idiotic idea that Moffit would leave LSU to come to UM? HE LEFT UM TO GO TO LSU, BONEHEAD!!! He's been at LSU forever and is a legend there. Why the **** would he leave to go back to the place he voluntarily left?
 
The BOT has to stop all their BS. The entire football program is going down in FLAMES. Waiting till the end of the season, with a 4-8 record, risks the entire recruiting class.

They need to swallow their "pride" and hire Butch immediately, to bring some order to the chaos.

They won't do it, and it'll get even uglier. Said all this last year, and it's happening again.

If they don't hire Butch, they'll get some inexpensive coordinator. GUARANTEED. Herman, and his ilk, is a smokescreen. They don't want a savage, just another Fraulden-like milquetoast.

So, in essence, with Spudzinski you have the coveted (amongst idiots) Miami man, who would leave Miami in a heartbeat if the NFL called? Sounds like a great proposition. Spud, in fact, already quit on UM once to go to the NFL as a fcking position coach. He left the OC job here to coach TEs in the NFL, which is considered a demotion in football circles.

Few alumni have pitched for Schiano too but more so for Chud.
Butch definitely in the lead for the alumni choice though.
 
Simple. Hire Butch and make Mario assistant. Let him bide his time and learn until Butch is ready to go the same way Fisher learned under Bowden.
 
Someone mentioned Richt in another thread on the site. I like Richt to a certain extent, but would he be able to take Miami all the way??

Blustein who been around the game a lot longer than people here scouting all over the area said "Chud has the experience and resume for NFL HC, He's a call away for an NFL HC job again though."

I don't see how due to what's the inevitable at Indy. Don't see Chud getting nfl HC gig this offseason.

But do you realize Miamis best coaches all went on to be NFL HC's.
I don't get the Chud hate.

I don't think he's the BEST hire. But he's a good hire and would get job done and would have a REAL staff. Miami basically was built on coaches springing towards becoming NFL HC's.


If you guys want a Miami guy and he's not Butch. "If they turn down Butch"
Chud the best followed by Stoops(I don't think he's coming due to extension).


Settling IMO would be more Cristobal(Don't think he's ready for HC here, assistant HC yes.) or Schiano(don't think he fits here as a HC, like as DC)

Butch is attractive because of his rare ability, not because he is a "Miami guy." If we cannot get Butch, we need to look at fresh faces.

Butch is a TURN-KEY solution for every problem we have.

If we can't get Butch - then roll the dice with outsiders - but ***** this Miami guy crap with Chud, Mario (****) and so on business.
 
All very interesting. I still think Pagano is the best Canes candidate and Herman the best outsider. Real rumor mill is very quiet right now, and I would not expect it to heat up for a couple of weeks.

Sounds like the best scenario for the alumni is

HC - BUTCH
OC - CHUD
OL - MARIO


Puts Butch in charge. Brings back the other two everyone seems to be so horny over. Gives Butch a few years to pull Miami out of the ashes.
