Truly do not understand all this Mario the super recruiter glory.....Any breathing soul would be a great recruiter selling Bama under Saban...think about it...is it that difficult to get attention and interest fron kids if you are selling Saban???? jesus..enough with the Mario sales pitch.

So the BoT rolls their eyes at Butch but would be willing to invite Orgeron back to campus??

I like Richt because he has the dignity to not let friendships get in the way of staff adjustments. He has Pruitt, a well regarded young defensive mind, and Schottenheimer from the NFL. He's going to hire the right guys, and he's got a good enough pedigree to compete for recruits down here, as well as being a decent Sfla recruiter to start with. McElwain sold recruits on Eddy Lacy, Trent Richardson, and Mark Ingram, well Richt could do the same with Gurley, Chubb, and now Sony.

We would be a 10 win team every year, but the fans would be ****ed when we lose to NC or VT or whatever. I think we would definitely make a playoff appearance and maybe even get to a NCG under Richt, possible we could win one. A lot better than some of the names being thrown around. If he's interested it would be stupid to rule him out. Easily a top 3 candidate if he is interested. Maybe a change of scenery would do him some good, light a new fire.

I like Richt too. But actually he has been loyal to a fault in the past. He stuck with Bobo way too long. UGA fans will tell you that.

I thought his only issue was a drinking problem back in the 1980's. Was there more? Great recruiter and a good DL coach.

"Starting in 1991, a series of personal problems began to surface for Orgeron: a local woman filed a restraining order against Orgeron, accusing him of repeatedly attacking her. In July 1992, Orgeron was arrested for his part in a bar fight in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Orgeron acknowledged he had been intoxicated that night and had grown angry when not allowed back inside to retrieve his credit card. In October 1992, Orgeron took a leave of absence from the University of Miami coaching staff for personal reasons; the departure turned out to be a permanent one, however, and he was replaced by assistant coach Randy Shannon. Taking a respite from coaching, Orgeron worked on his personal life: the permanent injunction against him was eventually rescinded, and the felony second-degree battery charges he faced were dropped. He stayed with his parents in Larose, crediting his father for helping him get his life in order.

Orgeron returned to coaching in 1994, but as a volunteer linebackers coach at Nicholls State University. The following year, he moved from the south to the northeastern U.S., accepting a job with head coach Paul Pasqualoni's staff at Syracuse University, where he coached defensive line for three years. Orgeron credited Pasqualoni for giving him a second chance at major-college coaching (after his prior personal issues had damaged his 'hireability'), and, helping him develop as a coach on- and off-the-field."

I'm starting to think Butch will be involved more and more, if not the someone would have came out right and said butch will not be hired in any capacity.

Chudzinski wouldn't thrill me but I'm confident the offense would be recognizable again. I loved the USC 30 for 30 because it displayed a pro style offense at the college level and how gorgeous and effective it can be. Granted there was talent galore.

With this shotgun-based crap it feels like we aren't even trying. Duke runs plenty of shotgun but they do it sensibly, with power based runs up the gut from Sirk. We'll probably see that 20 times on Saturday night.

When your quarterback isn't a running threat the shotgun in college football is like a tinkerbell waste, more often than not.
 
Where is the evidence that Chud is such a brilliant X's & O's guy? He was a disaster in Cleveland, had one decent year at Carolina before getting run out of town, and now is severely under-achieving in Indianapolis with one of the best QB's in the game.

There is none. And people often complained about his offenses when he was OC here.

****, does anyone remember the recent article about the early 2000's Miami teams where one dude who played against us was saying they knew every single play we were going to run, but our athletes were just so superior that they couldn't do anything about it?

But that's what Miami needs!
Someone who is a great FOOTBALL coach not a great recruiter. We win and the recruits will come..
As long as he gets guys around him to win I'm fine with Chud.
 
There are some candidates I would love, others I hate, and others I'm lukewarm on. If it is a lukewarm hire then I'll take it and 'wait and see'.

If its a candidate I love I'll be lighting the Beacons of Minis Tirith getting ready for war.

If its a candidate I hate I'll be....****ed.
