MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

I'd only recommend the votes be made public and unchangeable, as there have been an epic amount of waffling, hedging, speculation, and misinformation throughout this thread.

CIS posters: Not as confused and mistaken as the government. But close.

Their aim isn't to put the Big 12 out of business. Their aim is to maximize their conferences pre-ordained/reserved playoff spots and in doing so, it shoves the ACC/Big 12 to the side, which in turn could lead to those conferences going out of business.
I don't disagree with the minutia of what you're talking about (Best of the Rest, top 50 schools etc). I'm talking long term, off in the distance, big picture stuff.
I think the lawsuits and headaches are inevitable. I used to think that the grown ups in the room could figure this out without all the nonsense, but I was wrong.

I think the schools in a super-sized Big XII would survive (the vast majority of them anyway) in their own "Power Conference Lite" tier which is clearly (at least in football) a notch or two or three below the SEC and B1G (but way above the FAU's and FIU's of the world).

But that doesn't a preclude one of those Tier 2 schools from rising up every so often and winning a game or two in a 24-team CFP.

And feel like that's what we'll see once the conference realignment has been shuffled

@No_Fly_Zone

CIS had two "which do you prefer" polls: SEC (43%) or B1G (42%) or remain in ACC (13%) in 2022; and B1G (68%) or SEC (32%) in 2026.

Now that President Joe has emphatically stated Miami will not be trapped in the ACC, can we have a maude-approved "which will be Miami's next move" prediction poll: B1G or SEC or Independent.

Interested to see where (and why) Canes fans think we are headed when the inevitable ACC implosion takes place ...
Not sure if any of my fellow maudes ( @JD08 @RVACane @Brains @AtlAtty @caneingville @RF-4CCane @OBLIVION ) would feel differently, but I have no objection.

For it to have a poll, it has to be a new thread. Have at it.

For the 1st time probably in my life, UM leadership is focused & organized & aligned. We're in a **** spot. But the one thing we absolutely cannot do is allow others, who have proven incapable(acc), to negotiate on our behalf.

Football is a means to an end. If they can parlay it into an exclusive media rights deal or be the head of their own league, then they would be fools not to pursue.

Begging for equality never works. Best you get in that scenario is the appearance of equality, with so many qualifiers in place to keep you inferior. That's trying to force our way into P2. We've already seen examples of this with other schools in realignment.

Whatever moves Miami makes, the main goal should always be to control your own product & brand. We ****ed away our brand & it seems the people at the top finally understand what was lost & never even fully realized.

Again, I don't disagree. Here's my real beef and it has nothing to do with you or anything you've written. The B1G and $EC are selfishly hogging the revenue for themselves and working to essentially lock out everyone else. They aren't playing within the rules so much as they are re-writing them for their own benefit alone.

I also don't want to be a Tier 2 school because we aren't. We are being bullied into that corner.

Complicates things if SEC and Big Ten agree to that scheduling deal too. Who wants to add Miami or ND as an independent, to an already difficult and physically-demanding schedule?

Don’t get me wrong, Amazon as a backer would be great. But ideally, we want to be in the Big Ten.

If it was independent, the schedule would probably involve ND and FSU almost every year, and some variation of ACC/Big 12 teams + cupcakes.
ACC may even decline

Miami isnt going independent. Amazon was leaked for a reason and most are missing it. Joe E is extremely calculated. Most media is spinning their own narrative as usual. Miami is leaving the ACC and will be in P2 prior to 2030. Keep an eye on rosemont Illinois.
Joe E is playing Dominos while the rest of the ACC is playing Checkers
