I see it the opposite.Okay man. This is a pointless conversation.
If it works out that way, great. But like I’ve been saying for the past decade, this whole thing where Miami fans are so defiant that we talk ourselves into not just doing the easy thing is real old.
Okay. And in 2024 we got left out at 10-2 for a P2 team that went 9-3 and had a 24-6 loss to a 6 win football team in November.I see it the opposite.
Look at last season. 99% of the fans on here thought ND would be picked over Miami for the playoffs.
When push came to shove the selection committee and ESPN did the right thing.
I think the same exact reasoning applies to a 24 team playoff.
Miami is too big of a brand to freeze out.
Period.
That Miami team did not deserve to go in. The defense was putridOkay. And in 2024 we got left out at 10-2 for a P2 team that went 9-3 and had a 24-6 loss to a 6 win football team in November.
If you don’t think all the advantages are for those in the P2 we are just never going to see eye to eye.
Nothing is even close to certain, including the bargain of being in the P2 over the next 20 years.Okay. And in 2024 we got left out at 10-2 for a P2 team that went 9-3 and had a 24-6 loss to a 6 win football team in November.

We would never ever get a deal like ND. You’re living in a fairy tale world. We keep on winning and recruiting the way we do they would look like fools keeping us out. Like they are cowards and scared to put us in.
Also we provide great playoff television ratings so why would ESPN be stupid enough to freeze us out?
Admin/Maude feel free to change title
We need a new thread on this news!!
College Sports Inc is way too big of an industry to not focus on the bottom line while realigning conferences, expanding the postseason, leveraging media rights deals and so on.
Any CEO? would be as ruthless and focused on the end game as Sankey and Pettiti are right now
Serious question. If we were to go independent who would play us and what incentives would they have to play us? Thats my fear.
@No_Fly_Zone
CIS had two "which do you prefer" polls: SEC (43%) or B1G (42%) or remain in ACC (13%) in 2022; and B1G (68%) or SEC (32%) in 2026.
Now that President Joe has emphatically stated Miami will not be trapped in the ACC, can we have a maude-approved "which will be Miami's next move" prediction poll: B1G or SEC or Independent.
Interested to see where (and why) Canes fans think we are headed when the inevitable ACC implosion takes place ...
Not the ones capable of looking beyond the horizon. Not looking for an argument as I don't disagree with what you said. What I do want to bring to light though is this unspoken notion that the CFB revenues and fan interest will never wane. Maybe I'm in the smallest of minorities, but if Miami gets shut out of this new 24 team playoff system, I'm done with CFB. Again, I may be sitting by myself on Saturdays in the fall with my dog and other cucks in the local park, but I doubt it.
I'm often reminded of Bill Gates ensuring that Apple would not go out of business by lending Steve Jobs money. Gates was smart to look beyond the horizon and he knew that if Apple went out of biz, Microsoft would get pushed into Anti-Trust litigation and would go the way of MaBell. As much as Sankey, Pettitti, Jim Phillips want to lock things in (or out depending on ho you wanna look at it) but they're failing to realize/admit that they ALL need each other. Nevermind in it's in the best interest of the sport, which to your original comment, doesn't really seem to matter because of College Sports Inc.
So ALL OF THE ABOVE won’t be an option? Not sure if any of my fellow maudes ( @JD08 @RVACane @Brains @AtlAtty @caneingville @RF-4CCane @OBLIVION ) would feel differently, but I have no objection.
I'd only recommend the votes be made public and unchangeable, as there have been an epic amount of waffling, hedging, speculation, and misinformation throughout this thread.

I said "ruthless"... but that's not he right word. I'd say "efficient" and "focused on maximizing revenue" would be better choices.
You get the top ~50 schools/brands split between the top two conferences
Then a similar number of schools (let's define them as "the best of the rest") gather together under the Big XII flag.
With a few exceptions, the remainde of FBS are G6 programs and brands operating much closer to the FCS level then a lower-tier Power Conference like the Big XII. Honestly, they'd be better off having their own playoff (and I hope they do because I's definitely watch).
Even though Sankey and Pettiti are aiming for their schools to operate on their own tier as far as money and visibility go, they're not interesetd in putting the Big XII out of business.
For what? Nothing to be had from that other than a lot of headaches and lawsuits
I believe only in a reconstituted SWC in which Miami becomes the final member. This conference would be called SWC Jr.
