I still think it's insane that if the schools in the ACC were as competitive as they've historically been it would challenge the SEC for most dominant conference. Yet here we are.

Peak Miami, FSU, Clemson, VT would be such a blast. Shame.

Ive tried to educate people on this for over a decade, but people want to think the tin foil hat is just a theory. ESPN/ABC/Disney has both the SEC and ACC contracts. For the past 10 - 12 years, the ACC has officiated games with the intent of creating the following outcomes.

1) A Singular lion. It's typically been Clemson or FSU.

2) Bowl-eligible parity among all of the other teams.

They do not want the ACC to be seen as a powerful football conference. That's not what Disney wants. ACC viewership is dwarfed by SEC viewership. The last thing Disney wants is the ACC having four teams in the playoff, especially if they're beating SEC teams.

So, Disney has told the ACC it must officiate its games so there is only 1 obvious best team in the conference or else what? They would drop the ACC? Give up content that they are getting for pennies on the dollar due to the ACC's stupidity of signing a 20 year TV deal?

This product that we pay next to nothing on - it sure would be bad if it had multiple good teams that could pull in ratings.

Of all my students, you always seem to be the one who has the most trouble digesting the deeper truths of life. Clearly, my work with you is far from done.

Big Ten is getting it's *** kicked in ratings against the SEC and, reportedly, they are not happy about the situation. I think this is one of the main things pushing forward the eventual addition of Miami. Whether you want to watch them and cheer, or hate watch the Canes, Miami games draw ratings. Adding Miami match ups against OSU, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, and USC would certainly help boost those numbers.

Think article was from on3

Said Miami & UVA to B1G

Clemson, FSU, UNC & VT to SEC

Makes most sense if 20 ends up being the cap
This makes the most sense. It should be a no brainer. How Carolina handles Duke and NCstate being kicked to the curb I am not sure. Big10 needs to find a way for Miami ND UVA and even a Duke. Get those 4 and you can get a MASSIVE TV deal.

Duke is a private school. And "Carolina" politicians are not going to hold up UNC getting into either the SEC or Big 10 over "NC State". Everybody knows that neither the SEC nor Big 10 want NC State if the cap is 20. The only way NC State has a shot is if both conferences go to 24.
