Clemson is making a strong push for AAU membership (internally, there aren't a lot of media articles yet).

The med school issue has been problematic, though.

If UVa is forced by VA legislators into pairing with VaTech, then the SEC may go UNC-NCSt instead.

It was like that when I lived there last. @NorthernVirginiaCane would know better than me if the Virginia Legislature would allow UVA to go to the SEC or B1G if VT is left in the ACC.

9. Clemson 70% SEC/30% B1G - % is up due to some conversation with B1G

10. B1G 10 and it’s teams want Miami and they need a SE footprint

11. B1G having meetings (including a recent meeting among B1G presidents) and accelerated talks on what schools, what number of schools to add and conversations with media companies in case the quick strike on expansion has to happen based on potential approval of Save Act in senate/congress.

12. Utah is behind Duke but in front of GT for B1G expansion.


Obviously this is Flugaur’s opinion.

I truthfully don’t understand the B1G not doing everything it can to keep FSU and Miami together for the rivalry even though adding one of them gets them state coverage. Plus FSU research and future addition to AAU looks good.

I don’t understand Clemson having a higher % to B1G than FSU when they are the most obvious SEC add outside of UNC and UVA. I believe Clemson doesn’t conduct the right type of research, nor do they appear to be a future addition to AAU. Some of us here don’t believe AAU and research is unimportant, but that is the very reason B1G ADs want Miami added, other than their TV ratings and adding the State of Florida.

I believe the SEC mindset about adding Miami is absolute lunacy because playing Miami in Miami with frequency would greatly improve their ability to recruit S FL over B1G teams, which is their primary reason that they want to keep Miami out of the SEC.

I don’t understand Utah being a better add to the B1G than GT because of adding Georgia as a State and adding the Atlanta TV market.

Lol This guy really said that? Isn't DeSantis the Governor of the folks in Coral Gables? He didn't attend FSU. Wow on the BIG basing their preferences based on whether non-citizens can vote.

Massive difference about the governor of your state and the governor of state institution. Miami is private and that makes all the difference in the world.

Isn’t the college sports legislation called save as well? Thought that’s what it was referring to. If it was about the save voting act, that’s weird

Agree, but perception is reality. The $EC is perceived to be the best conference by most. Unfortunately, the AP voters drank the kool-aid as well and had half the $EC ranked every week of the year last year. The $EC had stronger ratings as well.

B1G is big dog as far as TV deal right now, but with subpar TV ratings last year, they better make sure that doesn't become a trend.

Miami securing its future is the most important goal obviously. I will say if Miami should find itself going the B1G route alone and playing FSU annually ceases, I ain't gonna lie - that would suck. But they gotta do what they gotta do.

Flugaur is full of bull ****.... what has some politician's support for some voting act got to do with multibillion dollar CFB contracts that last decades? Seventy percent of Americans outside of liberal Democrat enclaves support some form of voter ID laws anyways...

So you can mention the SAVE act but someone else mentions the absurdity of that being used to make CFB decisions suddenly becomes solely political... OK... whatever.

Nebraska got kicked out of the AAU, due to not having a Medical Center on campus. The closest center was in Omaha (59 miles away), The AAU puts high priority on medical research so this led to Nebraska being voted out.
The Greenville Hospital is more than 40 miles from the Clemson campus.
Without a Medical School , it's hard to imagine Clemson overcoming this hurdle for inclusion into the AAU.

Agreed. This is why F$U just bought a medical center in Leon County.
