MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

What kind of tv ratings does Duke get for its basketball games? What do other teams average?

From Week 1 of this year's NCAA Tournament:

1. St. John's vs Kansas (CBS): 10.58M
2. Kentucky vs Iowa State (CBS): 9.79M
3. TCU vs. Duke (CBS): 9.55M
4. Louisville vs. Michigan State (CBS): 8.47M
5. CANES vs. Purdue (CBS): 6.83M
6. Saint Louis vs. Michigan (CBS): 6.25M
7. VCU vs. Illinois (CBS): 5.65M
8. Siena vs. Duke (CBS): 5.43M
9. Iowa vs. UF (TBS): 5.14M
10. Santa Clara vs. Kentucky (CBS): 4.99M
(CANES vs. Missouri in the first round on TruTV wasn't among the 23 most-watched games from March 17-22)

The revenue has to be a case of volume over football and preferential network scheduling treatment

As far as preferential treatment goes, it makes perfect business sense that networks prioritize the biggest brands getting the best viewership windows in an effort to attract the biggest audiences.

Ohio State and Michigan could both be 0-11, but that game would still be on FOX, CBS or NBC and not the Big Ten Network. Similar deal for Canes vs FSU or UF even if one or both teams are in the crapper.

Duke is arguably the biggest brand in College Basketball at this point time. Maybe even inarguably

It's the only possible explanation. Volume of games. Nothing else justifies the disparity.

Which conference would they be a better fit for? The one with a bunch of state schools ranked in the upper 100's or the academic conference?

The Blue Devils (like the Canes) would be a better fit where they never have to fly three time zones to play a conference game.

An SEC with the additions of Dook, UVA, UNC and Georgia Tech to go along with the likes of Vandy, UF and Texas will get a big bump in academic prestige. Having to occasionally hold its nose and travel to the Mississippi schools or Arkansas won't be reason enough for Duke to choose the life of being a geographical misfit.

Let's all hope the same can be said for Miami when the smoke clears on realignment

What a load of horse****.

"University funding like never before".

First, Duke has been good in basketball FOR DECADES.

Second, the football title was a fluke, one of the worst P4 conference title game winners OF ALL TIME, so bad that TWO G5 teams got into the CFP ahead of them.

Pathetic.

"University funding like never before" MY ***...
