MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

Which conference members have been treated negatively by the B1G and how? Where is the example of this occurring in the past as a precedent for Miami in the future? I just don't understand the fear.

Would there be difficulties just in the fact Miami is over a 1,000 miles from the nearest conference opponent? Sure, but that's due to distance, not a B1G conspiracy.

I don't see why the B1G, $EC, or any other partner would mistreat a new asset. It would be self-defeating to the conference as a whole to consciously make it more difficult for any of its members to compete.

And as far as the "blue blood" title goes around, Miami's blood is definitely a shade of blue at this point. 5 NCs, played for about 5 others in the past 40 years. I'll take being in the national title argument once every 4 years during that time span. In fact, if Miami didn't have that background, they wouldn't be in the conversation to begin with.
The P1G would put us in a corner and prevent us from pilfering talent in the portal at the expense of phaggot schools like Wisconsin. I’m with @Alex Del Piero. I hope the conferences go away.

Of course, all this conjecture will be moot IF the TV renewal offers are not what many expect them to be. Personally, I don't think it is a slam dunk that the B1G will get the kind of $$$ they received in these current agreements.

As per your request ... one Shelby 289 FIA cobra avatar.
It’s a nice car but we need a character in there so it can be used better in gifs. Like take @ssvir here. The Will Farrell thing works for him and me as an “arteest”

Ok. I get it you have a gut feel about it. I just don't see them doing it now with any of their newbie schools so I don't understand your gut feeling about the Canes. They don't seem to be putting USC in a corner as of USC's 8 current portal additions, 4 of them are from rival B1G schools - including Wisky. Washington has 13 current portal additions - 3 from the B1G (2 from OSU alone).

I'm of the impression that conferences will have to start cutting schools if they want to keep their same or make more $$#.

Schools like Rutgers, Purdue, Miss St, northwestern, Arkansas, Maryland, Michigan state, Minnesota, all drag down the overall value of the conference. Or those schools have to be willing to accept a smaller payout/share.

It’s miami. It’s how it is for us. We will not be treated with the same courtesy. Someone on here pulled a stat recently showing years of penalties called on miami vs other teams - it was telling. Maybe it was @Calinative who had the stats? He’s the Gawd of Calilytics

Am I the only one who is in no hurry to leave the ACC? Seems like things are improving. I can see many seasons derailed by playing some frigid late season game at Iowa or Wisconsin. I don’t think the B1G leadership would be going to bat for us like the ACC did this year.

Yeah, @Memnon brought it up like 2-3 years ago and I didn’t get it but as time has gone on, I can see how we fit in and how it’s actually a pretty well run, good conference. Add a few higher level teams in and it’s a stronger and better conference than the ACC that’s I think could attract more attention nationally and in the south, non-coastal west and southwest than the B1G.
The B12 is a dead end and has worse programs than the ACC and it isn't even close. Sure you can say the leadership in B12 is better than ACC, and ACC will always bend over backwards for ND and we get the **** end of the stick a lot... but the B12 is ***, and it will continue to be *** going forward.

All it takes is the SEC and B1G to come calling for like 2-3 programs from B12 and that thing is dead as ****. Same as ACC. So hitching our wagons there would be idiotic. It's all about B1G/SEC.

What should happen and what will happen are two different things.

Should is in 2030 form a super conference of the top 48 or 64 teams and then teams 65-130+ are B division.

What will happen is the B10 and SEC will go to 20-24 teams and being left in the B12 or ACC will be a death sentence

I understand the fear but we’re going to be treated as bad or worse in the B1G than where we’re at and I don’t see the SEC letting us in there.

I think SEC will grab Miami, Clemson, FSU, and UNC. ESPN greases the tracks and the SEC doesn’t want B1G anywhere near Florida. On top of that, the SEC is seeing itself further behind the B1G and will make a big move to steal back the spotlight.

That said- it would be interesting to see the Big12 make a play to be the “unbridled capitalism” conference. Distribution heavily based on viewership and winners keep most of their money.

Forget about the major networks, make a multibillion dollar deal with Netflix or Amazon.
If the conference cut down to 12 teams then with the “keep what you kill” revenue model the top teams could clear 100-110 million in revenue distribution for making it to the semis.

Obviously it’s nice to be able to be a bottom feeder and still get 100 mil distribution, but if Yormark wanted to present a viable alternative to the P2, a NFL-lite structure would be the way to do it. He could further differentiate from the P2 by being the only conference to allow players to collectively bargain. Instead of fighting the inevitable, get in front of it. It will bleed the P2 as a lot of smart players will want to go somewhere they have the power to protect themselves.

I actually think we are better off in the SEC than the P1G and that’s a change for me. I like the eat what you kill model but right now I have little trust in the Wisconsin Cuck Conference.

I don’t want anything to do with the P1G so if what you are saying is how it will be then SEC > P1G.

Cold as **** lol 19" of snow over this past weekend.

Regardless of him getting in next year, they just set the precedent that personal feelings matter more than on field results for the Hall of Fame. The amount of people coming out and speaking on this is way more backlash than they planned for. Can't ignore it at all.
Bill Parcell didn't get in on his 1st try, dry it up man.

I hear you because the finances now if we continue to be highly viewed and win at least two playoff games puts us close to the big and sec payouts.

But you can’t stay in an organization if it’s being run terribly even if you’re making money now.

Some reasons why we should still leave:

The refs hate us (I’m still shaking my head at taking a touchdown off the board because our olineman pulled our RB for two inches…a call I never heard of)

This is conference is so stupid they locked everyone into a media deal until 2036 even though the sec and big reupped after and will reupp again before 2036.

And they were so stupid to not have logical tiebreakers for who made the ACC championship game.

Best case scenario is what's happening right now now.

Miami positions itself as the premier program in Florida and the ACC. Both the SEC (to keep the B1G out of the south) and the B1G (to get into Florida) want us and they offer full shares from the beginning and maybe even other incentives.

We just need to stay in the playoffs every year and start winning the ACC. Keep our TV ratings up too.
