Tech not playing.
They had $126M in AD revenue last year I believe.

MLB/NFL/NBA are usually in the 50/50 Owner/player rev split (well usually 51/49 in one direction). Though once you subtract Tuition+Room/Board, 55/45 may be more realistic for College players getting the 45 end… which would be $56M for Texas Tech. So this definitely makes sense in general to me.

Guess what happens to quality and tradition when PE sinks its teeth in an industry/business.

It’s not nearly as bad as our biased posters are making it out to be. **** Penn State but it’s pretty hilarious reading it.

NEPA would be a mix of ND and PSU with some fans of out of state programs that hate those two.
LOT of support for ND in NEPA .... especially by the Irish Bars and the Catholic Church!! During football season at the end of mass in St. Patrick's Church (and most other Catholic Churches in NEPA) the priest would say "and pray for Notre Dame".

Bars and churches, bars, churches, bars, then churches, then bars. Good times.

Yea cause no one wants to live in Lubbock. I know people criticize Tuscaloosa and Gainesville but living in the panhandle of Texas is probably the worst place to be.
Landman made it look pretty great.

Never been to Lubbock but I went to Plainview back in HS to pickup 3 horses that my friend's dad bought. Not far from Lubbock, and you're not kidding, it is an absolute wasteland out there. Probably took 5-6 hours driving back home before we hit anything and it was Oklahoma City. Which just popped up out of no where.

I meant more with $. I agree the pieces they are getting aren’t moving the needle.
It is Texas Tech. They just proved it could work in softball because of their investment. We'll see how it translates across the larger sports.

We need alumni like that dude vs. butthurt ex players steering recruits to other schools.

Interesting comment by Regal (the guy who started the Warchant thread on realignment 2.5 years ago). Paraphrasing "the Settlement Agreement with Clemson / FSU and the ACC and the REVISED ESPN media agreement .... apparently give ESPN some flexibility in modifying the media agreement and payout in the event 2 programs or more leave, and part of the calculations might include exit fee payments by teams leaving". One of the Warchant attorneys is making a FOIA request for copies of each document.

???

So the exit penalties will be repurposed to prevent a reduction in the ACC media rights deal after its top brands evacuate to the SEC or B1G?

Sounds like a good deal for ESPN

Well the entire "settlement" was driven BY ESPN ... and they were more than aware of the FSU / Clemson (and others) desires to exit ... so they did have the opportunity to craft some advantageous clauses. Will be interesting to actually read the two docs once somebody gets ahold of them.
